Job Description
- Attract, develop and retain top creative talent
- Develop, mentor and direct creative staff, and inspire all levels of creative leadership
- Be recognized and utilized by CMD’s staff and clients as the leader for high-level creative and strategic direction
- Be a strong strategic and conceptual thinker, with experience in CMD’s key creative areas: print and broadcast advertising, branding, graphic design, digital, experiential, writing, user experience, film and video and B2B
- Balance brilliant creative work with doing what’s right for the client
- Understand clients’ business, industry and needs at the highest level
- Create professional client partnerships built on trust, respect and results
- Generate business-building ideas, marketing insights and solutions for clients
- Work with clients to set goals for individual programs
- Proactively plan, conceptualize and understand research to drive and achieve results
- Prepare and present results and insights tied to objectives at the end of programs or campaigns
- Advocate for creative work with other senior-level staff
- Delegate portions of activities, responsibilities and authorities, as necessary and desirable, to creative staff
- Pro-actively solve problems at all levels, utilizing various leadership and negotiation skills, offering solutions that benefit clients and the agency
- Support creative staff with a hands-on understanding of work processes from start to finish
Leverage existing relationships into new opportunities, as well as sell and close pitches to clients - Lead and direct new business opportunities
- Outline presentations and proposals
- Participate in or lead cultural activities
Job Requirements
- Residents of Alexandria ONLY.
- Think smart, live curiously, work collaboratively and act passionately
- Four-year degree from an accredited college or university; master’s degree a plus
- At least 15 years of experience in marketing communications or advertising
- At least 10 years of experience as an agency creative director
- Proven ability to lead and inspire strategic creative development
- Substantiated record of success attracting and retaining technology, B2B and consumer accounts
- Established portfolio of work relevant to CMD’s existing and future direction
- Community-focused and collaborative
- Strong creative, design, UX, strategy background
- Strong interpersonal and persuasive communications skills, comfortable and effective working with senior- level executives
- Understanding of and experience with digital creative tools
- 25–30% travel required
