Position Summary
This role will be in charge of the coordination of the importation & clearance operations for imported/exported shipments aligned with MOH and Custom authority policies&procedures, as well as oversee the LSP operations (warehousing, logistics, & inventory management). This is in support for the Pfizer External Supply Operations, which requires close collaboration with the VSOT (Virtual Site Operations Team) and working in a matrix organization.
The role requires a highly motivated individual, whom is a self-starter with ability to work independently under pressure and react quickly to changing priorities.
Position Responsibilities
- Participate and collaborate closely with the Virtual Site Operations Team (VSOT).
- Preparation for the logistics releasing documents and following up with concerned departments to accelerate finalizing the required documents.
- Following up daily with our clearance agents the clearance process progress to ensure the soonest delivery to avoid any demurrage fees.
- Monitoring our current balance in custom on regular bases to insure its adequacy for custom fees and taxes for releasing shipments.
- Guiding clearance agents to use the most appropriate tariff codes & certified documents
- Cooperate in reviewing Receiving & Reviewing the shipping documents for conformity to MOH and customs regulations.
- Coordinating & organizing the incoming shipments with the warehouse/LSP to make sure that materials arrive with the right quantities, lot #s & reviewing their correct entry into the designated systems.
- Maintaining a comprehensive computerized database, also available in hard-copied files (archiving + filing) for all shipments and all work-related activities to ensure the retrieval of any needed document easily.
- Handles Exportation of different kinds of shipments (samples, re-exporting, repairing Lab devices….etc.”.
- Cooperate in the initiation of export documents for exporting shipments produced in Cairo PGS (invoices, packing lists….etc.) in addition to required approvals from MOH.
- Cooperate in the initiation of required export certificates (COO, CPP…etc.).
- Cooperate in communicating with concerned departments to gather required data and documents in order to start initiating documents for exported shipments.
- Warehousing, logistics & inventory oversight responsibilities include:
- Responsible for the LSP operations, incl. warehousing, transportation, and inventory control for CMO materials.
- Monitor LSP performance, execute operations review meetings and implement required corrective actions when deviations occur.
- Ensure LSP compliance with required regulations, policies and procedures, and Pfizer standards (quality, EHS, security, …).
- Ensure SOPs are available and valid for all processes related to the required warehousing & logistics operations.
- Support inventory accuracy through cycle counts and wall-to-wall stock counts in accordance with regional & Pfizer policy, and manage the correction of discrepancies in a compliant and streamlined manner across Pfizer and LSP systems.
- Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Flexibility on daily working hours, given the position’s workload variability. Interaction with stakeholders in other time zones might be required (Asia, US, EU).
- Travel may be required from time to time (10%).
- Position must be based in Egypt.
- There is no relocation associated with this role.
Job Requirements
Education
- Technical Diploma or Materials Management/ SCM or Logistics Degree required.
- Knowledge and understanding of Supply Chain concepts and application.
- Experience in Materials Management, production planning and inventory management optimization algorithms.
- Digital literacy.
- Systems savvy (SAP, APO, EnterpriseOne)
- Strong skills in MS Office® Suite, especially Excel, is required. Usage of MS Access is an asset.
- APICS training/ certification preferred.
- Fluent in English (both spoken and written), other languages are an added value.
Experience
- Minimum 3 to 5 years working experience in Supply Chain related fields (international trade (import, export, customs), LSP management, inventory management, scheduling, procurement, logistics, customer service, demand management) with at least 2 years experience in international trade, preferably in the pharmaceutical/ chemical industry.
- Understanding of GMPs and compliance in the pharma industry.
- Above site / regional or global experience.
- Experience working in a complex matrix organization.
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience interacting and building effective relationships at different levels within and external to the organization and across geographies is imperative including working with cultural differences and country specific requirements.
