Job Description
- Responsible for the product development and required research work support to make the product more feasible for manufacturing & supply. This may include the assembly of components or products being made into finished goods within unit or from specific production line(s), Includes people management and budgetary/cost reporting.
- Lead the R&D function operation within budget and output targets to meet requirements and standards. Full accountability for ensuring product quality, cost and manufacturing requirements is met. Manage the team on best practice and establish standard policies and procedures whilst also mentoring and leading teams.
- Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice manufacturing vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve operational performance.
- Effectively and efficiently manage the products design process in line with customer specifications, meeting quality and delivery expectations, minimizing costs where possible and ensure the required best working practices are always maintained.
- Drive process improvements on overall product quality in terms of materials specification, packaging design and manufacturing process.
- Attend various meetings and action/communicate instructions.
- Produce written reports and make presentations.
- Undertake continuous training and development.
- Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems.
- Set department objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports.
- Ensure KPIs are met by working to the plan, including management of, and reporting.
- Prepare the annual R&D budget. Manage the budget from identification to completion of projects.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance.
- Recommend solutions without compromising product quality while optimizing cost.
- Contribute to new business initiatives and projects, review & communicate the impact on products quality.

Job Requirements

Education
- BSc in science, (pharmaceutical, Agriculture, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Food processing) or relevant fields.
Experience
- +10 years relevant manufacturing practical experience in the field of food or pharma manufacturing with minimum 5 years in R&D job.
- Technical understanding.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Proven track record of building a team, managing change, streamlining processes, and driving safety, quality, delivery and cost improvements.
