Job Description

  • One of Universal Education’s most recent international initiatives involves the development of a network of International Colleges and Universities across the UK, USA and Australia. Universal Education aims to deliver world-leading study abroad services designed specifically to meet the needs of international students. 
  • Universal Education seeks to appoint an experienced individual to the post of Student Counsellor, focusing on the Egyptian Market. 
  • The role: 
  • As part of its ambitious plans, Universal Education wishes to appoint a dynamic, target driven Student Counsellor, to support development within the Egyptian market. 
  • With a good understanding of international recruitment within the education sector you will be able to demonstrate an awareness of the Egyptian market. 
  • You will require excellent organisational skills and be a self-starter with experience of working internationally.  
  • The post involves travel of up to 16 weeks per year throughout Egypt and abroad and includes exhibitions, open days, seminars and meetings with educational organisations and sponsorship bodies. 
  • The successful candidate will ideally have experience of travelling and building relationships in Egypt and will be confident and dynamic enough to travel independently throughout the Egypt. 
  • Main responsibilities
  • Amongst other duties, the candidate will be responsible for: 
  • Driving sales opportunities with educational institutions, students, parents and sponsors, to achieve challenging team targets for UK, Australian and US colleges and universities in line with each country’s compliance requirements
  • Through student counselling and product promotion, influencing and converting student opportunities from new lead to deposit paid status
  • Providing industry-leading customer service and respond to all enquiries within 24 hours
  • Promoting Universal Education on an on-going basis to generate new leads in market through a variety of channels
  • Developing a strong working relationship with the international partner universities and create opportunities for joint activities
  • Ensuring our educational organisations and institutions are given comprehensive product training and represent Universal Education  in line with compliance regulations
  • In liaison with the Marketing and Content team, developing market-specific collateral to support sales and recruitment in the Egyptian market
  • Monitoring competitor development and market trends and using it to influence and adapt (where appropriate) market strategy
  • Providing promotional and logistical support to international partner universities as required for incoming visits
  • Maintaining the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database and recording all activities and contacts with students, parents and educational institutes
  • Maintaining a good standard of administration and preparation for events and activities
  • Any other activities as required by the Director
  • Reporting responsibilities
  • The Student Counsellor reports directly to the Director 

Job Requirements

  • Essential skills:
  • Fluent spoken Arabic and English
  • Results orientated, ambitious and highly motivated
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to engage confidently with a wide range of audiences
  • Strong organisational, planning and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, to deadline and within budget, to meet challenging targets
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Experience of sales or marketing
  • Experience of working to and meeting targets
  • University level education
  • A passion for working in Egypt
  • Willing to travel overseas independently and to work irregular hours when required
  • Ability to think creatively and turn problems into solutions or opportunities
  • The ability to adapt positively and quickly to changing environments and priorities
  • IT literate
  • Desirable skills:
  • Fluent spoken French
  • Fluent written Arabic
  • Experience of working or living in either the US or Australia
  • Experience of international relationship management
  • Understanding of UK, US and Australian International Higher Education
