Job Description

Risk Management Responsibilities:

  • Continually refine loan monitoring documents and procedures for the company to ensure responsible risk management
  • Proactively monitor and evaluate the risk of the portfolio in the company;
  • Make recommendations to Operation Department on solutions for delayed loans
  • Develop and maintain effective organizational risk management policies;
  • Interact with operation Department to respond to identified external and internal risk factors;
  • Write and review monthly reports highlighting risks identified by the department during the month, notes on all risks like credit, operational, liquidity, indicators, limit breaches and proposing recommendations for improving risk management and mitigating controls
  • Undertake a periodic risk assessment of all existing and new products, services and processes of the bank.
  • For internal stakeholders such as internal audit and management board, develop and maintain a risk assessment matrix of all the key operations, products and branches within the company specifically highlighting high risk areas requiring IA/management review.
  • Develop and maintain risk management limits within the company and develop systems for monitoring and reporting non-compliance thereto.
  • Maintain regular contacts and provide risk awareness within the management and staff adding value for increasing effectiveness and efficiency within the business and support units
  • Maintain his/her role as an executive committee member and ALCO member.

Compliance Responsibilities:

  • Develop and oversee the systems that ensure company compliance with regulations, in addition to legal and statutory requirements, including renewal of business licenses and updating of other important documents required by the regulatory authorities.
  • Ensure that business is conducted in accordance with its objects as contained in its memorandum of association. Liaise with external regulators.
  • Assess legal documents of the company and ensure legal compliance, file various documents/returns with the authorities as required.
  • Keep under review all legal and regulatory developments affecting the company’s operations and make sure the proper reporting of them.
  • Oversee legal requirements and compliance of the issuance and transfer of share certificates, corporate loans and charges.
  • Liaise and coordinate with external legal counsels on legal matters of the company.
  • Arrange/coordinate and oversee the company’s involvement in any lawsuit or legal process.
  • Ensure that all legal formalities like tax payments, assets maintenance, agreements of lease and other obligations are fulfilled in time.
  • Ensure that high-level secrecy and privacy for all legal data is maintained for the organization.
  • Communication and coordination with other departments regarding operational risks, BCP and AML/ATF.

Governance (Company Secretary) Responsibilities:

  • Assist the MD in preparing the meeting agenda, information, data, and details on these issues and sending them to the MD or the members in sufficient time before the meeting.
  • Record and save meeting minutes.
  • Follow up the issuance and implementation of the BoD resolutions and inform the concerned departments, as well as prepare follow-up reports on what has been done in this regard.
  • Preparing for the meeting's presentations of the board committees.
  • Preparing for the meetings of the ordinary and extraordinary general assemblies and keeping their minutes.
  • Follow up on documenting the minutes and fulfilling any requirements of the concerned authorities regarding them.
  • Advise on any related governance matters.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related field required. Post-graduate degree in Finance or related field strongly preferred in Risk Management
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of increasingly responsible experience risk management and commercial lending or related financial services.

Technical Skills 

  • Familiarity with operational and legal issues relating to risk management of MFIs or banks;

Competencies: 

  • Ability to manage staff and work collaboratively in cross-functional workforce;
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Analytical skills
