Job Description
Basic Function
- Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Plant Manager is responsible for the entire operations of the manufacturing plant.
- The purpose of this position is to manage the manufacturing functions so that he achieves agreed performance in terms of service, quality, and cost.
- He is to lead, promote and facilitate continuous improvement activities with production employees to identify enhanced methods.
- Drive the use of best manufacturing practices such as cost savings, waste elimination and employee performance.
Major Job Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain production metrics of quality, production efficiency, delivery, and safety.
- Team up with other departments to coordinate activities and resolve production issues on timely basis.
- Integrate with the Operations Manager to deliver improvements in reliability, quality, safety & health, and environment performance whilst developing production capabilities.
- Develop and implement innovative strategies to streamline factory operations.
- Liaise with Supply Chain Management to maximize output and minimize downtime/bottlenecks.
- Increase production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs.
- In coordination with the Operation Manager, control the raw material availability with continuous quality testing system.
- Take ownership of, and developing the safety, quality control systems, environmental and product costing systems.
- Have full responsibility of the raw materials inventory and finished goods production line.
- Plan the daily targets for the department and managing resources to safely manufacture good quality AAC brick, at efficient cost, whilst ensuring excellent customer service.
- Hands-on supervision of daily operations including workflow scheduling, management of staff; monitoring production quality; managing production processes; and all other activities required to ensure a quality product on-time delivery.
- Assist the entire operation of the plant and machinery with full technical support.
- Overall supervision of plant, machinery, maintenance, vehicle routing, quality control, …. etc.
- Monitor Day-to-day program scheduling for deliveries to various sites.
- Coordinates the overall maintenance activities through planning and communication with peers, team members, customers (internal and external), suppliers, and technical staff.
- Develop and control plans and budgets for the maintenance area.
- Follow through with daily checks for accuracy and progress.
- Coordination with sales & purchase depts. for the effective output of the plant.
- Screen, recruit, and train new factory workers.
- Collaborate with quality control staff to establish and execute quality control processes.
- Analyze production data to identify and resolve any production issues.
- Collect and review data to reduce inefficiencies and waste.
- Prepare production reports and submit them to top management.
- Regular inspection on finished products to examine quality standards.
- Motivate factory workers to continually achieve factory targets.
- Generate and responsible for the following reports:
- Maintenance File
- Production Volume
- Purchasing of raw materials and spare parts from Egypt and overseas
- Supply Chain
Job Requirements
- Proven working experience as a plant manager
- Sound knowledge of business and management principles
- Familiarity with the building materials industry standard equipment and technical expertise
- Knowledge of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation and inventory
- Ability to create accountability and to lead by example
- Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
- The capacity to grasp concepts easily
- ICT literacy to deal with various technologies and programs
- Attention to detail to ensure high levels of quality
- Ability to deal with communicate clearly and persuasively subordinates and clients and capable to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
- Strong negotiation skills materials’ purchasing
- Capability to work under pressure and motivate others to meet tight deadlines
- Skilled to work in a logical and systematic manner
Knowledge and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Power Engineering from a known university. Production of construction materials market experience is an asset
- 10 – 15 years of experience in a managerial role in a related industry and similar role
- Willing to relocate to Abassa – Sharqia Governorate
- Excellent use of Excel in specific and other MS Office applications in general, ERP knowledge is an asset
- Recognizable time management skills
- Strong management and leadership skills
- Work effectively, and collaboratively in team-oriented environment
- Effective communication skills
- Very good English
