Job Description

Collect and analyze data and maintain up-to-date programmatic information on leishmaniasis and other Neglected Tropical Diseases from Member States in the Region;2. Develop country profiles on leishmaniasis and other Neglected Tropical Diseases; regional overviews on the epidemiology and response;3. Monitor the progress of the implementation, milestones and targets of the Regional Action Plan for Neglected Tropical Diseases and NTD Roadmap;4. Follow up with countries to complete the Joint Application Package for planning, requesting medicines and reporting for preventive chemotherapy diseases including providing feedback to national and WHO country focal points on reporting, clarifying and cleaning the reported data.5. Follow up with Member States to ensure that all data necessary for Global Health Observatory and WHO Integrated Data Platform is received, validated and entered in the electronic reporting platform;6. Provide technical input to countries to establish/improve national Neglected Tropical Disease surveillance and programme monitoring and evaluation systems.

Job Requirements

Education

Essential: First university degree in public health, medicine, epidemiology or a related field.
Desirable: Training in areas related to communicable disease surveillance. An advanced university degree (Masters Level or above) in public health, communicable diseases or epidemiology.

Experience

Essential: At least two years' experience in communicable disease surveillance, at least one year of which is in neglected tropical diseases including data analysis and report writing.

Desirable: Experience in working with international organizations. Excellent knowledge of public health interventions. Familiarity with WHO Integrated Data Platform, developing surveillance tools, experience with monitoring and evaluation of communicable disease control programmes and experience with engaging key stakeholders would be important assets.

Skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills on the public health aspects of neglected tropical disease control, surveillance and programme monitoring and evaluation.
  • Proven skills of working with various stakeholders at national, regional or international levels.
  • Good skills in report writing, literature reviews, data analysis and project management.
  • Proven experience with managing data in any area related to communicable diseases.
