Job Description

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is a neutral and independent international humanitarian organization.

Description

  • Thousands of frontline workers in Egypt such as paramedics, ambulance drivers and volunteers- (i.e. helpers)- assist people in distress on daily basis. Despite their high level of commitment and motivation, their demanding jobs often exposes them to significant levels of stress which, if left unaddressed, not only affects their own well being but also, might have an impact on the quality of the support they provide to the community. To help these helpers deal with their work-related stress and acquire basic psychological skills to support their beneficiaries in need, the ICRC has initiated a program called “Help the Helpers”. This program thrives to establish quality stress management systems embedded in two organizations: The Egyptian Ambulance Organization (since 2015) and the Egyptian Red Crescent (since 2019)
  • Within the ICRC Health team, the role of the MHPSS programs responsible is to primarily be in charge of the strategic planning and implementation of the Help the Helpers program along with providing quality capacity building, training and follow up of the partner organizations. The job will also require assessment, identification and planning / implementation of other MHPSS activities for ICRC target populations.
