Job Description

  • Prepares technical specifications and obtains price quotations for goods and services, conducting comparative analysis of supplier prices;
  • As required, provides assistance in the import clearing process of goods purchased abroad;
  • Complies with USAID and EDC procurement procedures and regulations;
  • Conducts quality and cost control checks through regular market surveys of goods and services;
  • Ensures timely submission of documents such as purchase orders, invoices, or other administrative documentation to the finance and accounting staff;
  • Ensures that logistics and procurement files are updated and accurate;
  • Monitors and produces monthly fuel consumption reports for vehicles and project generators;
  • Oversees vehicle log books and ensures they are up to date;
  • Responsible for car hire coordination to support project transportation needs;
  • Manages logistics arrangements for high level and routine project activities, including local and international transport, hotel bookings, and conference and workshop facilities;
  • Coordinates with project team to ensure that delivery of supplies and materials is completed in a timely manner;
  • Other duties as required.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

The Logistics Specialist shall have at a minimum the following qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Social Science or other related area or equivalent experience required.

Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 6 to 7 years of progressively responsible and directly relevant experience required, including at least 3 years of experience in logistics;
  • Experience with USAID or other donor-funded projects desirable;
  • Experience coordinating logistics for trainings and workshops required;
  • Technical skills and experience in at least one area of Operations – Transport or Procurement;
  • Must be able to work within a cross cultural setting, negotiate diplomatically, and function well under pressure;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Must be proactive, able to work independently and meet tight deadlines;
  • Culturally astute, respectful with excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Detail-oriented and organized with ability to multi-task;
  • Experience working with computers, especially MS Word and MS Excel.

Language:
Fluency in Arabic and proficiency in English (written and spoken) is required.
