Job Description

SUMMARY
The Settlement department’s role is to analyze, reconcile, report, and invoice all transactional bilateral data and RTO/ISO settlement, and Financed to ensure stability, integrity, and efficient operation of settlement operations and related accounting processes in support of core organizational functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Settlement Accounting

  • Develop an understanding of all financial and settlement business processes. Understand the flow of information for the accounting entries as well as the flow of trades through ETRM system and PowerOptix into the financial statements.
  • Maintain cash postings in ETRM system and any other applicable systems.
  • Monitoring of all processes impacting revenues, cost of sales, energy receivables and energy payables accounts. Ensure appropriate processes and reviews are in place for accurate and timely recording.

Finance & Audit Support

  • Audit Support – Provide settlement data as requested from various systems for external auditors, member auditors, and member/partner auditors (i.e. audit populations from ETRM system, account analysis, etc.).
  • Have the ability to research the accounting treatment for any new transactions, contracts, etc. that may arise and document in memo format.
  • Financial Reporting, which may include Member, Partner, Management, Trading Desks and/or other required financial reporting documents. Must have the ability to understand a complex chart of accounts, and various reporting mapping for individual Member, Partner, TEA-backed, and Department/Director reporting.

Technical & Project Management Support

  • Verify the designs for new accounting/settlement processes are efficient and flexible
  • Ensure Settlement is leveraging available technology and modifying processes to reduce manual work

Job Requirements

  • In pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university
  • Accounting/Finance background preferred
  • Strong analytical skills, detail and accuracy oriented
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge
