Senior Software Engineer : FinTech NeoBank operating in stealth mode
Company description
We are a FinTech start up currently operating in stealth mode while we complete filling key vacancies in our all-star team. The founding team is comprised of experienced banking and payments experts from the Middle East who are well back financially. Each of our founding team members brings 10+ years of work experience with leading regional and international banking and payments institutions.
Our mission is to build the emerging markets’ most customer centric retail neobank of choice. We are penetrating the market initially by rolling out our digital accounts and payments products. Our target launch geography is Egypt (remote candidates highly encouraged to apply).
Role description
This is an interim role with the intention of transitioning the right candidate to the CTO role within 3 to 6 months. The Engineering Lead will work closely with the CEO and the Acting CTO on ensuring the delivery of new product launches from the ground up. The Engineering Lead will also be responsible for the daily management of the engineering teams. This is a part-time role with the intention of extending a full time offer to the candidate with the best technical and cultural fit.
Role responsibilities
- Assess and recommend technology stack and architecture for MVP launches and beyond:
- Benchmark the technology stack of different players across a variety of FinTech product verticals and open banking integration.
- Understand the local technical landscape (eg. that of partner banks) and recommend simple and practical solutions/ integrations.
- Build and maintain operational tools, processes, and resources required for appropriate availability, scalability, and service levels across all technology services and infrastructure
- Establish, communicate, and maintain all technology best practices and standards; especially those relating to security, data privacy, software, hardware, cloud services, on-premises integration, data collection, and retention
- Agility to manage and mentor the front end, backend, NLP and development operations teams
- Work closely with the CEO, CTO, and other stakeholders on the planning of the features and products of the platform
Job Requirements
Your background and qualifications
- Experience in implementing SAS platforms into financial institutions or large companies and familiarity with enterprise software integrations (Azure and AWS)
- 8+ years of technical experience
- Excellent Python, Java, and Scala skills and experience
- A solid background working in highly regulated markets
- Preferably with work experiences in the finance, banking, and/ or payments industries
- Exceptional Computer Science fundamentals including a college degree in the field with top of the class marks
- Ability and dedication to work hard and long to thrive in a high paced, high demand, and diverse environment
- Practice in translating business case fundamentals into actionable work plans for the development of MVPs that can be rapidly deployed, tested, and pivoted or scaled
- Experience with developing system architecture for a start-up within the context of rapid MVP development while keeping an adaptive and flexible base for pivots and/ or scales while keeping in mind the necessary end state product
