Job Description

  • Database administrator uses specialized or proprietary software to organize and store his employer’s data. This includes things such as proprietary documents, employee information, customer information, and financial information. His main priority is keeping their employer’s data safe. he has to keep up with the latest data security trends in order to do his job efficiently. In some cases, he may have to develop a customized database to meet the needs of his employer. Another priority of database administrator is making sure the data under his control is organized and easily usable by data analysts.
  • Database administrator is a mid-level position that can involve supervisory duties, such as delegating basic database management tasks to lower-level IT employees if relevant. Database administrator works in a standard office environment and spend the majority of his time working with different databases and operating systems to tune the different environments and achieve best performance.

Oracle DBA Role:-

  • 12C RAC Installation and administration.
  • Architecture of Oracle database.
  • Adding Disk in ASM and Adding datafiles in RAC, temp files etc.
  • Establish and maintain sound backup and recovery policies and procedures (RMAN backup, Level0, level1, level 2 & Logical Backup Exports).
  • Implement and maintain database security (create and maintain users and roles, assign privileges)
  • Perform database tuning and performance monitoring - Plan changing understanding, how to fix plan.
  • Oracle Data Guard understanding, troubleshooting, Archive files restoration, incremental backup restoration to make the DR sync.
  • Planning for Production Storage and capacity management.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving database issues.
  • Duplicating the databases using RMAN.
  • Full databases Export and Import from Production to Test environments.
  • Creation of Standby databases and monitoring the log shipping.
  • Taking care of Database alerts.
  • Database backup and restore.
  • Monitor code migration and database change management through various stages of the development life cycle.
  • Deployment activities in Oracle databases on all Prod, Dev, UAT & QA Environments.
  • Support to development team for any oracle database related issues like privileges, grants, connectivity etc.
  • Table level flash backup on user request on Oracle databases.
  • Troubleshooting User connectivity issues with oracle environments
  • Space monitoring for oracle development instances
  • Tablespace size and user quota management in oracle databases.
  • Listener configuration on client machines for database connectivity.
  • Oracle SQL Developer installation and configurations on client machines.

SQL Server DBA Role

    • Installing and configuring SQL Server.
    • Assisting database capacity planning and database tuning and optimization
    • Performing all physical database administration functions, including storage management, maintenance, tailoring and monitoring of database software products, backup and recovery, and support for the databases and application monitoring
    • Daily reporting on backup success/failure and taking appropriate actions
    • Perform general technical troubleshooting, Setup and maintain documentation and standards.
    • Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hour.
    • New SQL database creation activities. User creation in SQL databases.

    Additional Responsibilities:

    • Monitoring IBM & DELL Storage and EMC Networker Backup.
    • Jobs creation in SQL database and oracle databases and solving issues related to them.
    • Adding and Remove Storage for oracle and SQL servers.
    • SQL Database server patching activity.
    • Resolving day-to-day tickets and Creating, assigning tickets to relevant teams.

      Job Requirements

      Oracle DBA:-

      • Experience in Installation of Oracle 11g, 12c on Red Hat Linux.
      • Installation, configuration and upgrading of Oracle server software and related products.
      • Good Understanding of RAC (2 nodes or 3 nodes) and its services.
      • Different backup and recovery scenarios understanding through RMAN.
      • Experience in writing Shell scripts.
      • Hands on experience on OS (HP/AIX/Linux/Sunos) & issues troubleshooting.
      • Experience in User Management, Privilege Roles, Profiling, Authentication.
      • Experience in Database Sizing, Table space Management in oracle.
      • Experience in backup & recovery strategies through Physical & logical backups.
      • Experience in Schema Refresh and table refresh through Data pump.

      SQL Server DBA:

      • Experience on SQL Server version 2014, 2016, 2017,2019.
      • Strong Experience on any of the Cloud Platforms.
      • Skilled with MySQL database clusters, replication and high availability, tuning and scalability
      • Must have a good knowledge in Database Backup and Recovery. Excellent Performing Tuning Skills with native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
      • Experience with Windows system administration. SQL Server Installation and Patching, Strong Experience in Log Shipping, Database Mirroring Knowledge and Experience in High Availability HA and Disaster Recovery DR options for SQL Server. Must be able to plan growth and changes Capacity planning.
      • SQL dba Backup/restore activities on user demand
      • Deployment activities in SQL Production database

      Additional Requirements:

      • Good understanding of Change management processes.
      • User IP and Hostname whitelisting activity in Oracle and SQL databases.
