Job Description

This is an Aswan based position and hiring a person from Aswan is a priority.

Background

Om Habibeh Foundation (OHF) is implementing a five-year skills development initiative in collaboration with Canadian and local partners in Aswan Governorate. The Aswan Skills Development Program (ASDP) is focusing on strengthening the quality and range of vocational and technical training programs, as well as professional development programs available to young women and men in Aswan Governorate.

The ASDP aims to improve the knowledge and services available to young women and men as they transition from education or under/unemployment into training and from training to work or entrepreneurship. ASDP will build on the success of Om Habibeh Foundation’s Continuing Education Centre (CEC), which since its inception in 2010, has become a leader in English Language and IT training in Aswan.

Through the programmatic activities of ASDP, Om Habibeh will use CEC as a vehicle to enhance the employability of the people of Aswan and provide support to their career progression. In addition to Technical Vocational Education Training (TVET), management, and professional training, CEC will provide career counselling and job placement services through the Career Development Center (CDC), institutional capacity building and support the research and policy agenda in the sector.

Position Objectives:

The Marketing Officer is expected to ensure high visibility of the project, paying high attention on the marketing aspects of all ASDP activities and guaranteeing the targeted group involvement and inclusion throughout the project cycle, initiating innovative approaches and building rapport with different agencies and media representatives. The incumbent is responsible for content building in different communication formats, in print and online and s/he will be reporting to the Communications and Policy Manager of ASDP who designates, monitors and approves all the outputs carried out by the Marketing Officer.

Main Responsibilities:

Communications

  • Participate in the social mobilization sessions that increase the enrolment of the targeted beneficiaries in different ASDP activities.
  • Reach out to media representatives, ensuring high visibility of the program, providing adequate content, statements, press releases etc.
  • Organize and implement needed marketing activities and events for ASDP.
  • Develop content and advertising materials as appropriate.
  • Work with relevant vendors (photographers, designers, etc.) to produce the advertising materials.
  • Provide a monthly online media analysis, including social media analysis.

Social Media

  • Contribute to and implement ASDP Digital Communication Strategy, including the specific guidelines on how to face criticism on social media.
  • Manage and update the official Facebook page of the ASDP/OHF to increase demand and drive youth involvement in ASDP different activities.
  • Create and implement social media campaigns aiming at generating traffic and outreaching the targeted group.
  • Generate and lead interactions on social media and act as the online community manager for ASDP social media platforms.
  • Plan with the different units which stories to produce, and which projects to highlight in social media.
  • Prepare weekly social media plan based on the Communication Strategy.

Market Analysis

  • Analyse the project context in Aswan in relation to the trainings and capacity building opportunities available to the targeted group.
  • Develop appropriate recommendations in favour of the program based on ongoing market assessment and research.
  • Contribute to the development of the Communication and Advocacy Strategy.

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A degree in the field of communication, social sciences, journalism, or any other related field.
  • 2-3 years of progressive related experience in the field.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Practical experience managing social media platforms, building off of solid understanding of their participants and their community dynamics (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.), and how content of different tools is created and used in different scenarios.
  • Good command of English and Arabic Languages, speaking and writing.
  • Experience in managing public events.
  • Excellent public relations skills and respectful to culture differences.
  • Ability to build relationships and network within different social contexts.
  • Ability to work under pressure, handling multiple tasks, demands and deadlines with a positive attitude.
