Job Description

  • Survey interests of students and parents with regard to local university options.
  • Work alongside the Head of Sixth Form and students in exploring future career options.
  • Work alongside the Head of Sixth Forms developing the ‘career counseling curriculum’ for Advisors/Tutors of students in the Secondary School and Sixth Form.
  • Involve parents in discussions of future career opportunities and link these discussions to individual course selections and local university counseling.
  • Develop and offer resources related to career exploration.
  • Manage and support Sixth Form students throughout the local university application process including research, application completion, and all other aspects while meeting all deadlines, including those for Early Admission.
  • Schedule meetings with students and parents on an ongoing basis with regards to local university applications.
  • Suggest a range of local universities for the student to explore in keeping with their interests and academic record.
  • Organise campus trips to local universities.
  • Ensure that students have scheduled and enrolled on appropriate standardized entrance exams and tests (E.G IELTS/BMAT/Thanawaya Amma)
  • Assist with financial aid and scholarship applications as applicable.
  • Ensure that local university applications have been submitted with honesty, integrity, and thoroughness, genuinely reflecting the character of the applicant and that the application has been checked by the Head of Sixth Form.
  • Build and maintain relationships with university admissions officers in Egypt.
  • Support the Head of Sixth Form and IBDP coordinator with student and parent information sessions on a regular basis regarding universities and the application process.
  • Attend Counselor Visits hosted by universities.
  • Attend university and careers counseling conferences and other professional development workshops and activities.
  • Support with IGCSE and A Level/IBDP Options Evenings – giving counselling to those looking at local universities. NB: All advice and support must follow the MCE Sixth Form protocol.
  • Assist with Sixth Form administrative duties, as well as supervising the Sixth Form Students.
  • Assist with the monitoring of the Sixth Form Common Room and Study Room.
