Job Description
Purpose of the job
- Set and review Health, Safety & Quality guidelines in order to minimize accidents and injuries, also monitor construction sites and enforce compliance with government regulations, acts and standards.
Accountabilities and Duties
- Review blueprints, ventilation systems and lighting in addition to researching the construction site before starting a new project.
- Map out emergency evacuation plans, including locations for the extinguishers and first-aid kits.
- Consult building codes, government regulations and other emergency response agencies in order to ensure that the workplace is compliant with Health, Safety and Environmental regulations.
- Responsible for investigating any workplace incidents.
- Develop and lead execution of the site HSE improvement plan.
- Engage operations to support a culture of continuous improvement in the performance of the HSE team across the site.
- Develop and implement HSE audit programs to insure compliance with Safety, Health and Environmental laws, regulations, and company standards.
- Provide technical oversight in identification of the source of the problems and devise solutions to those problems.
- Provide advice and counsel to management, staff and employees on matters affecting employee safety.
- Review employee and contractor performance in the areas of Safety and Health in addition to developing plans to improve performance.
- Ensure that incident investigation is carried out correctly identify the root cause and plans for eliminating them.
- Develop effective employee training courses, which result in employees learning the information necessary to keep themselves and their co-workers safe.
- Prepare and implement the group’s Quality Management System, including project unique Quality Control Plan, and Quality Control Manuals
- Responsible for reviewing and auditing subcontractor Quality Management systems
Job Requirements
- 5-7 years of experience in leading, Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental teams in the construction environment
- OSHA/NEBOSH certifications are preferable
