Job Description

Role Brief:

  • There is no technical accounting within the role – that is all handled out of the shared service center in the UK and this is not changing. The individual will be representing the finance department on the ground in the Egyptian office and will be covering tasks that are more appropriate to be handled locally, as well as ensuring financial processes are followed

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure for the receipt and local storage of finance-related documentation
  • Ensuring supplier invoices are routed promptly for processing by the EMEA SSC, and that Vendor setup is compliant with local needs
  • Support EMEA SSC AP team in processing of local invoices – for example, relating to VAT and Withholding tax issues
  • Verify and storage of hard copy documents relating to employee expense claim process.
  • Support EMEA SSC AP team with employee expense management process
  • Support EMEA SSC AP team regarding vendor/employee payment process, including involvement in query resolution where appropriate.
  • Be an interface between Local Vendors and business for queries arising from the SSC
  • Facilitate local payments where cheques or Cash payments are required to fulfill liabilities
  • Assist the EMEA SSC team with billing processes, including the translation of centrally generated documents into compliant Arabic language documents where required.
  • Support Billing function by being a local contact for resolution of issues in the order to the billing process.
  • Issue quarterly withholding tax statements to affected vendors, based on SSC guidance.
  • Validate any legal stamps applied on supplier invoices, maintain a register for use by accounting in the reporting cycle.
  • Support all finance, tax and treasury initiatives where local expertise is required

Job Requirements

Essential skills:

  • Two years of experience as a general accountant in an international environment, preferably a software company
  • Detail focused on ensuring they follow up all unresolved matters and record data accurately
  • Firm but the patient approach, strong objection handling skills
  • Oral and written communication skills, being fluent in both Arabic and English.
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Basic decision-making ability
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently and self-motivated since the line manager will be in the UK (E)
