Job Description

Summary

Marketing and Communications Director will lead the execution of outcomes-based communications and marketing strategies, while also enhancing messaging alignment across the organization.

Marketing and Communications Director should have a record of articulating and implementing effective internal and external communication strategies for diverse audiences in complex environments, and should demonstrate expert knowledge of innovative, results-oriented, data-driven communications, marketing, digital strategies and platforms.

Marketing and Communications Director is reporting to Executive Director and will manage the marketing, communication, graphics, and digital team.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the alignment and execution of a comprehensive, integrated internal and external communication strategy as informed by the Strategic Plan.
  • Work with business units to cultivate relationships and determine best communication vehicles and strategies to advance communication goals.
  • Develop communications plans to ensure that each department’s communications needs are effectively met.
  • Analyzes and interprets information, conditions, stakeholder positions, and other variables in order to develop a marketing and communications strategies in response to or in anticipation of changing conditions. Coordinate, as appropriate, with outside agency partners, ensuring collaboration and consistency.
  • Responsible for creating, implementing and measuring comprehensive marketing and communications programs that will enhance organization’s image and brand awareness with key supporters and influencers.
  • Coordinate with Government Affairs Department on development of messaging and communications strategy related to legislative and policy priorities.
  • Monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures, and develop and implement a monitoring system to measure and assess the success of organization activities and to guide optimizing for effectiveness.
  • Turn data, marketing insights, staff and business-related information into clear and compelling stories that reframe challenges, and offer new opportunities, points of view, and strategic solutions.
  • Work with leaders and staff to recognize internal and external communications opportunities and solutions and define and execute appropriate strategies to support them. Inspires creative thinking and fosters problem solving.
  • Ensure message clarity, consistency and accuracy.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience developing comprehensive strategies across multiple communications areas, including expertise in data collection and analysis of communications functions and develop action plans to improve communication goals.
  • Significant experience in management and supervision, able to build teams, encourage and support team members, and bring out the best in each professional. Thorough knowledge of marketing principles and brand management.
  • Excellent and demonstrated written and oral communication skills, problem-solving abilities, strategic management experience and organizational development skills required.
  • Experience coordinating efforts with a variety of external partners on creative processes and projects, while personally contributing to the success of projects.
  • Experience in creating a system-wide marketing and communications reporting function that can track, measure and analyze performance.

Job Requirements

Education, Experience and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, business or a related field; MBA or an advanced degree is preferred
  • 10 years of progressively responsible experience leading marketing, graphics, social media and web site strategy implementation.
  • More than five years of experience with a combination of brand management, creative planning, strategic planning, and/or related marketing and communications experience.
  • Possess a broad base of knowledge of internal and external communications functions including key message management, employee communications, digital and social media.
