Job Description

PROJECT BACKGROUND:

  • Feed the Future Egypt Rural Agribusiness Strengthening Project (ERAS) is a five-year USAID-funded activity, supported by the U.S. government’s Feed the Future initiative. The project aims improve the competitiveness of Egypt’s horticulture producers and related down-stream businesses and food processors. The project promotes a more competitive and inclusive Egyptian economy through growth in selected horticultural sectors with special focus on securing employment and increasing agriculture-related incomes of smallholder farmers.
  • The project will work in greater Cairo, Upper Egypt, and the Nile Delta, through three strategic regional offices in Luxor, Minya and Gharbia, in addition to the main office in Cairo. The project’s implementation is until July 31, 2023

ASSIGNMENT BACKGROUND

  • Gender integration and mainstreaming is one of the main crosscutting subjects that will be discussed with all project participants including the POs, project consultants and staff, and different beneficiaries. It aims to increase their knowledge about gender equality concepts and definitions, and gender mainstreaming and integration, as well as building their capacity on implementing income-generating activities, and advance their soft skills. The gender consultant will work together with the program staff including Gender Lead and all other project leads to fulfill all the project requirements. Gender consultant main role is to train university graduates, POs, rural women and smallholder farmers, and other project stakeholders in the target governorates to increase their knowledge about gender equality concepts and definitions, gender mainstreaming and integration, as well as build their capacity on income-generating activities, soft skills and other relevant issues.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in updating and testing the gender training manual that contain all the information about gender concepts, gender analysis, practical exercises and examples
  • Participate in developing TOT training manual.
  • Support Social Behavior Change and Communications Lead Expert in developing the necessary tools and strategy
  • Support Social Behavior Change and Communications Lead Expert in delivering the developed tools and strategies
  • Support in developing a Training of Trainers training manual
  • Deliver Training of Trainers workshops
  • Develop gender training manual, and manuals on other relevant topics
  • Deliver trainings on gender equality, gender mainstreaming, implementing income-generating activities, soft skills, and other relevant topics.

DELIVERABLES:

  • Gender equality, and/or gender mainstreaming, implementing income-generating activities, soft skills training manual/s
  • Written reports on results of gender equality trainings

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in designing and implementing gender activities and training materials.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Business Administration, or any relevant degree.
  • Excellent knowledge of gender analysis, working with women and youth and local communities as well as with NGOs.
  • Excellent training and communication skills.
