Job Description

  • The EIB is seeking to recruit for its Representation in Cairo, a:

BUSINESS ANALYST/FINANCE OFFICER

  • Full time position under fixed-term contract of 4 years, based in the EIB Regional Office in Cairo

Duties:

  • The EIB seeks to appoint a Business Analyst/ Finance Officer to assist in carrying out EIB public sector financing operations in Egypt, who will work within a team of international and national personnel located both in the region and in the EIB’s headquarters. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to make a varied, interesting and substantial contribution to the assessment and development of the EIB activity in the Mashreq region, in particular for public sector infrastructure projects, with a focus on Egypt.
  • The Business Analyst/Finance Officer will work under the operational guidance and report to the Head of the Mashreq Unit for the Public Sector South Neighbouring Countries (located in Luxembourg) and under the daily supervision of the Head of the Regional Office in Cairo.

Specifically s/he is expected to carry out the following duties:

  • Identify potential public sector projects;
  • Analyse financial proposals and information with a view to developing business;
  • Interface with project promoters to examine proposals;
  • Perform research on clients and monitor market and economic developments, contribute to sector analysis;
  • Where required, build relations with key external parties (e.g. government representatives, local authorities, other institutions, etc.) and support project appraisal;
  • Monitor project implementation and assist with project disbursements;
  • Upon request, represent the EIB at events, for example sector meetings;
  • Draft briefs, speeches and other material for official visits and communication actions of the EIB in the region.

Job Requirements

Qualifications, experience and skills:

  • Bachelors or preferably a Masters’ degree in Finance/Economics or a business related discipline;
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in financial and credit analysis of counterparts and projects for long-term lending, either for financial institutions (e.g. private sector banks or IFIs), or for strategic consultancies or audit companies;
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and of financial analysis;
  • Experience in the evaluation of proposals to finance infrastructure projects, productive sector investments or credit lines to financial intermediaries;
  • Knowledge of the standard IT office tools (Word, Excel, Power point);
  • Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English and Arabic.
  • Working experience in an international company or organisation would be a clear advantage;
  • Dynamic pro-active individual with excellent interpersonal and business skills;
  • Capacity for rapid and clear analysis and reporting;
