Job Description
The consultant will perform the following tasks:
- Take part in meetings with MESR, MPED and other implementing partners as needed.
- Propose a robust methodology of composing EGCI based on the revision of successful international experiences. Sub-indices and sources of data (both desk data and field data) need to be clearly identified.
- Actively contribute to workshops and events organized in the framework of developing the index. This could include contributing with ideas for thematic workshops, developing presentations, or facilitation of these events. A validation workshop will be held once the methodology has been developed, and the expert will be responsible for presenting the methodology and incorporating feedback.
- Develop guides, questionnaires and all data collection tools that are to be used by desk and field researchers in the data collection phase.
- Design an action plan for the establishment of an observatory for the index to ensure institutionalization of this initiative.
- Train selected field researchers on the optimal use of the developed field questionnaires and guides.
- Provide on the job consultation and support when needed by field researchers during the data collection phase.
- Proactively work with researchers from the implementing partners to achieve assignment objectives.
- Advice the working committee on the EGCI in implementation mechanisms including sampling, determination of potential interviewees, training the field researchers, field monitoring and correction mechanisms.
- Submit monthly progress reports on activities implemented.
Job Requirements
- PhD in economics or statistics
- Advanced knowledge in statistical software packages
- Minimum 20 years of experience in the field of economic research with a special focus on composing economic and social indices.
- Demonstrated experience in field research
