Job Description

Main Purpose:

  • Participate in the planning and clinical supervision of mental health related services in the MSF Cairo Programme according with MSF standards in order to provide the most appropriate clinical mental health support for patients.

Accountabilities:

  • Participate in the planning, organization and coordination of Mental Health activities, in close collaboration with the Mental Health Activity Manager and other medical team members, in order to ensure an efficient and effective implementation of high levels of quality in Mental Health activities and MH case-management according of with MSF programs, protocols and guidelines.
  • Participating, in collaboration with Medical Case manager, in coordinate MH case-management with other relevant actors and liaises with the local counterparts (like MoH, WHO, ICRC and NGO) on clinical mental health matters, including referral services.
  • Ensure and support the close collaboration between MH clinician and other professional in MSF Cairo Program in order to ensure high quality of Multidisciplinary (MDT) care.
  • Ensure, in collaboration with Mental Health Activity Manager and Medical Case Manager, proper referral procedure about psychiatric inpatient admission and follow-up.
  • Clinical supervision of daily mental health activities (psychologist and psychiatrist) according to MSF protocols and standards in order to provide the most appropriate support for clients with Mental Health needs
  • Liaise with the other MSF team members of the project.
  • Provide training and direct clinical supervision (on the job) of MH professionals (psychiatrist and psychologist) in individual and group MH sessions.
  • Provide indirect clinical supervision (MH and MDT case-discussion, analysis of clinical documentation, MH report)
  • Ensure and supervise the quality of clinical documentation produced by psychologists and psychiatrists in individual and group MH sessions (patient file, data, MH report)
  • When requested by clinician give support in clinical sessions for particularly vulnerable cases.
  • Produce monthly written report about MH clinical activities for MH activity manager
  • Ensure the patient’s related information is kept confidential
  • Ensure MSF clinical guidelines are followed by MH clinician

Job Requirements

Education

  • Essential MD degree.
  • Essential finalized specialty degree in psychiatry.
  • Essential Training in psycho-therapeutic techniques.

Experience

  • Essential work experience as psychiatrist (at least 3 years)
  • Essential work experience in psychotherapy
  • Experience with Acute stress disorder (ASD), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Complex Post traumatic Stress Disorder (C-PTSD) will be an asset
  • Experience in MH_Group will be an asset
  • Experience with migrants/refugees will be an asset
  • Experience in training and supervision will be an asset
  • Experience in providing clinical supervision will be an asset
