Job Description
- Manage, train & mentor plants’ HSE technicians during the three working shifts.
- Ensure the implementation of the company HSE system and policies at the area in charge through regular patrolling the workplaces.
- Conduct internal audits and provide recommendations to improve audit scores.
- Inspect equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions.
- Participate in the Risk Assessment for all specific jobs inside the plants for routine and non-routine jobs and ensure the implementation of the control.
- Ensure the timely reporting of all incidents, near misses, unsafe acts & conditions.
- Participate in the incident investigation and ensure the implementation of the required corrective/preventive actions.
- Ensure the effectiveness of the fire alarm & firefighting systems through endorsing the monthly check-up and inspection by the responsible person for all firefighting devices to keep them in good condition, accessible and effective.
- Supervise the external contractors and suppliers’ works to ensure compliance with the company HSE rules.
- Conduct the required On Job Training (Tool Box Talks) and In-House training to the supervisor level and workers as well.
- Ensure that all employees are informed of, comprehend, and comply with HSE policies and procedures.
- Provide regular written reports, as well as other related results and updates to HSE to the department head.
- Recommend disciplinary actions for repeated violations of health and safety rules by the employees and the contractors.
- Ensure the implementation of the Emergency Response Plan and the regular drills to improve the employees’ response.
- Prepare for the internal and external audits in accordance with the related standards ISO 45K, ISO 14K& Legal Obligations.
Job Requirements
- Candidate shall have a university degree (Engineering or Science).
- Proven experience as a safety supervisor/officer for 3 to 5 years in well-known FMCG or chemical plants.
- Good knowledge of construction safety.
- Good communication skills, ability to lead others and train others in a teamwork effort.
- Able to be involved in rosters rotation.
- Able to promote the safety culture among company staff.
- Good knowledge of OSHA, NFPA & Local Standards.
- Holds at least the basic safety certificates (OSHA, Firefighting, First Aid, NIOSH, etc…)
- Familiar with ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 requirements.
- Good command of English skills.
- Ability to perform a wide variety of duties and responsibilities with accuracy and speed under the pressure of time-sensitive deadlines
