Job Description
Oracle DBA will support Group and Enablement service’s application databases which include administrating Oracle databases.
- Evaluate Oracle features and Oracle related products for supported services.
- Establish and maintain backup and recovery policies and procedures with cooperation with DC DB/Backup Teams.
- Take care of the services database design and implementation.
- Responsible for ensuring availability and performance of the databases that support the system.
- Work with the team to ensure that the associated hardware resources allocated to the databases and to ensure high availability and optimum performance.
- To proactively monitor the database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime.
- Responsible for providing trend analysis to the service management team to enable them to make informed decisions regarding resource management.
- Responsible for problem escalation to Oracle Development team and third parties as appropriate.
- Responsible for improvement and maintenance of the databases to include roll out and upgrades.
- Responsible for implementation and release of database changes as submitted by the development team.
Job Requirements
- University degree in any relevant field.
- 5-7 years' experience in the same area.
- Good understanding of the Oracle database, related utilities and tools
- A good knowledge of the logical/physical database design.
- Knowledge of all Oracle backup and recovery scenarios “Physical & Logical”.
- Good knowledge of Oracle security and availability management.
- Knowledge of SQL querying and PL/SQL code packages.
- A good understanding of Unix/Linux operating systems.
- A good knowledge of Unix/Linux shell scripting
