Job Description
The segment producer serves as the program’s main driver of content, aggregating new and unique angles to stories and sourcing them for the discussion show. He/she will also be responsible for generating original content for the show’s digital platform, ensuring that the two remain in synchronicity.
- Generate original show and guest ideas daily, tapping into a broad array of sources for ideas in line with network and show brand identity
- Develop and produce live and taped guest segments. Implement work independently with guidance from producer and EPs
- Find and book compelling guests for the show, following booking protocols
- Conduct pre-interviews of guests and based on their responses script questions for use by anchors
- Handle any necessary travel logistics for guests
- Write compelling copy and teases for both television and digital platforms
- Secure elements such as sound bites, video and graphics to support TV segments and digital.
- Create lower-thirds and coordinate graphic orders. Partner with other departments as needed (such as Graphics, Tech Ops, Satellite Operations) to place and follow-up on requests while maintaining effective cross departmental relationships.
- Develop and maintain good relationships with external sources.
- Assist the producer in the production of live shows.
- Report, blog, produce daily digital content, supporting efforts to build a social media audience for the live show in collaboration with team leadership and the digital producer.
