About the role:
- The primary objective is to contribute to the overall success of the organization by managing 400+ existing databases across the landscape (SQL/DB2/Oracle). The role will be the lead expert in the all the Databases administration and will act as a lead and adviser in the area. The role will have access to data across the AFG landscape and must maintain high levels of confidentiality, responsible for risk management associated with the databases.
KEY ROLE SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Responsible for managing database of 3 different flavors MS-SQL, DB2 & Oracle.
- Responsible for provisioning, capacity management, performance management and upgrades
- Day-to-day support, designing and maintenance of databases
- Installation, configuration, up-gradation, patching and cloning of databases
- Implement, maintain integrity of data & manages users and database security.
- Ensure proactive measures to reduce unplanned downtime and data loss.
- Capacity Planning & Optimize DB performance
- Create & Implement Disaster recovery plan and testing
- Develop and implement backup/restore/recovery policies and procedures
- Lead the setup and maintenance of documentation and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Lead the automation of procedures wherever required to promote rapid response to fix issues
- Work with third party vendors to quickly escalate and resolve issues
- Custodian of all Database software maintenance contracts and renewal. To ensure timely renewal of all contracts.
- Woking in co-ordination with Business, platform & security teams
- Establish and maintain strong relationship with vendors to build road maps, technical support, training programs, new technologies and upgrades.

Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:
- Education: A degree in Computer Science or related discipline and relevant database certification
- Minimum Experience and Knowledge: Minimum 10 years Database Administrator experience in an enterprise environment on various platforms including Windows, AIX, Linux/Unix.
Job-Specific/Technical Skills required to complete the tasks:
- Experience in managing multiple RDBMS on large and mission critical systems.
- Experience in Oracle, SQL server 2005/2008 database administration & support is a MUST
- Expert level skills in reading and writing complex stored procedures, views, and triggers
- Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Experience of disaster recovery & Data Guard.
- Knowledge of UNIX, shell scripts is required.
- Experience to work on RAC databases with ASM on AIX
- Experience in DB2 database administration & support will be an added advantage.
- Experience writing technical documentation.
- Highly motivated and strong team player with excellent communication skills is a must.
- Must be able to work occasional weekends and after office hours.
