Job Description

Main Job Purpose:

  • The site SHE Engineer has overall responsibility for implementing Safety, Health & Environment improvement activities to achieve excellence at the site level. S/he works with site Supply Chain teams to implement the local SHE Strategy and improvement plans to achieve sustainable SHE excellence by reducing injuries, illnesses and environmental impact as measured in the core KPIs.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Deploy the global/cluster SHE strategy, policy and standards in the site to achieve excellent sustainable results
  • Implementation of WCM safety & environment pillar activities
  • Drive safety and environment risk assessment and develop/implement appropriate controls
  • Reduce the site’s environmental impact in the areas of hazardous & non-hazardous waste, SOx & CO2emissions and water & energy consumption
  • Influence site management and drive safety and environmental leadership through line management
  • Monitor site legal compliance and ensure the site meets all local/national regulatory requirements and Unilever standards, provide advice on national SHE legislation requirements & implement relevant procedures and policies
  • Work closely with Occupational Health personnel to identify and mitigate risks which may lead to occupational ill health
  • Assist the site leader to develop and lead the internal crisis committees and safety committee; support the site leader in leading serious incident investigation and analysis
  • Advise line management in all accident/incident investigations
  • Conduct trend analysis from incidents, near misses, safe behaviour observations and deep compliance audits
  • Develop and deploy internal SHE auditing and inspection systems , participate in audits of other Unilever organisations as required
  • Determine training needs in SHE topics and assist in delivery of training programs
  • Lead the Environmental activities all throughout LJA site.
  • Developing and implementing Environment agenda at the factory related to ISO 14001 , PAR, WCM.
  • Leading chemicals management process
  • Meet all documentation requirements of WCM for the Environment pillar and in coordination with the line members actively deploy the same throughout the plant .
  • Lead all investigation of all environment near miss, incidents that are reported
  • In coordination with other departments collection of environmental data that is required to prepare the Various Monthly reports for LJA site,
  • Responsible for ensuring all reports weekly, monthly yearly reports are submitted on time to the regional / local teams.
  • Coordinate the training and general activities of Emergency Plan Procedures and Environmental Induction for all new employees.
  • Developing the Environmental procedures and make timely update as a result from any changes of processes and operations or for improvement.
  • Arranging 3rd party for waste analysis and raise the PO for relevant.
  • Coordinating with facilities / dept leads in waste management of the plant.
  • Preparation of SOP for all environmental activities

Job Requirements

Professional Skills:

  • University degree in Science or Engineering or equivalent industrial experience
  • Qualifications required by local regulatory authorities
  • Advanced degree in Occupational Health & Safety and Environmental Sustainability
  • Experience in Supply Chain operations
  • Manufacturing and/or Engineering experience
  • Proven track record of analytical thinking and project management

PREFERRED

  • 0-5 years Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial or Electrical Engineering experience
