Job Description

  • Purpose To deliver high quality customer focused reception and administrative activities for the School. As the first contact with the public of Uptown International School (UIS), it is essential this position presents a professional image and creates a welcoming, warm, and positive first impression with all they come in contact with, whether via phone, email, or in person. Key Responsibilities Reception duties 
  • Represent UIS as the first point of contact in a professional, warm, friendly and efficient manner, providing reception support that meets the day to day requirements of the School 
  • Deliver, or organize for the delivery of, all operational actions associated with the School’s reception including: 
  • Mail management and distribution 
  • Responding to incoming telephone and email inquiries 
  • Dealing professionally with and directing parents, contractors, couriers, and other School visitors 
  • Maintaining the Reception area to a high standard ensuring it is organized, clean, and prepared for visitors 
  • Organizing couriers, school transportation, taxis, and resource bookings as required 
  • Ordering of stationery and organizing for the Reception area, including the storage and correct use of business cards and name badges 
  • Assisting the School with data entry, proofreading, and ensuring functional organization as required 
  • Updating of the telephone system’s ‘call waiting’ messages, as appropriate 
  • Provide leave-related cover for Reception as required 
  • Ensure the safety of self and others 
  • Ensure compliance with school policies and procedures 
  • Participate in the School’s activities as required 
  • Work harmoniously with other employees with respect and School requirements 
  • Maintain good ethics and professionalism that will earn respect of all customers and work colleagues 
  • Other related duties as required 

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor Degree is required
  • Minimum of three (3) years of office and clerical experience, preferably in an academic or institutional environment
  • Demonstrated facility and skills with standards computer software packages and/or basic data management software including Microsoft Word and Google Drive products
  • Demonstrated customer service orientation and communication skills and the ability to work well as a team member
  • Business writing skills preferred
  • Exceptional Arabic and English speaking and writing skills required
  • Spoken French language is a plus
