Job Description

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the direct supervision of the ICRC Cairo Economic Security Delegate, the Economic security Generalist will:

  • Coordinates with the ICRC Cooperation Department (Cooperation with the Egyptian Red Crescent).
  • Organizes and participates in meetings representing the ICRC and prepares minutes of meetings.
  • Coordinates with other ICRC Departments such as Protection, Health Logistic, to ensure a good management of the assistance activities.
  • Provides written reports of the activities carried out and prepare statistics and operational reports according to schedule.
  • Participates actively in meetings on humanitarian issues if needed.
  • Available for any kind of practical technical assistance.
  • Participates to training seminars and meetings with ERC team ( field, Head quarter ) , discuss the progress of the programme or/and to modify the approach if required.

GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Understands and adheres to the seven Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement
  • Understands and adheres to the ICRC Code of Conduct
  • Understands the roles of the components of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement
  • Respects and observes staff regulations and security rules at all times
  • Represents the ICRC in a professional manner at all times
  • Develops and maintains a pleasant and conducive working environment with colleagues and line managers
  • Performs all duties with the highest level of confidentiality in the interest of the employees and the ICRC.

The Economic security Generalist may also be asked to perform duties and tasks not covered in this job description as well as to provide support to other departments when necessary.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor degree or professional diploma.
  • 3 - 5 years of work experience in a similar field with a public or non-governmental organization.
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and Arabic.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Good understanding of the socio-political situation
