  • We are looking for a dynamic, organized self-starter to join our Human Resources department as HR Assist Investigator supporting the growth of Amazon Customer Service across MENA (Middle East & North Africa).
  • The ideal candidate for this position has strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling them to work successfully on a broad spectrum of employee and labor relations issues and projects.
  • The position is based in Cairo, Egypt and supports all CS teams in Egypt, Jordan, UAE and Saudi Arabia.
  • The individual will work on critical employee relations issues that are crisis-oriented and typically can only be successfully completed with limited time.
  • Balancing time between projects and crisis-response is a critical component for success in the position.
  • Partner with Ops managers and HRBP’s to create and sustain positive employee relations programs and best practices.
  • Lead or consult with HR business partners and legal on complex employee investigations
  • Handle all executive escalations around ER issues and provide recommendations on the course of action
  • Be the custodian of the disciplinary grid and revise/update the grid based on the changes in business and regulatory environment.
  • Ensure consistency in approach when handling ER cases and be the guardian for successful closure on all ER cases in the site.
  • Design, deliver and evaluate training programs to build up employee relations capability for both operations and HR.
  • Partner with legal and HR and provide subject matter expertise on compliance to employment legal requirements in all MENA countries.
  • Partner with legal and HR and conduct audits of all HR processes/ practices regularly to ensure compliance to the local legal requirements
  • Analyze quantitative and qualitative data from multiple sources including employee feedback mechanisms to identify trends and insight that can be used to inform business decision making to ensure positive employee relations.
  • Conduct and oversee employee relations and vulnerability risk assessment to identify opportunities and vulnerabilities
  • Partner to engage in continuous improvement of communication vehicles and practices. Support and advice operations and HR partners on effective change management.
  • In partnership with HR, Legal and PR design, review and revise people programs, policies, and practices to sustain positive employee relations which are compliant with the relevant employment law.
  • Ensure employee relations compliance with local legal regulations in all ME countries in partnership with our HR and Legal Partners.
  • Mentor a team of HR assistants based in different CS locations in MENA.
  • The HR Assist Investigator will report to the HR leader for Middle East Customer Service. This is a full-time position that will require significant travel within MENA countries.

Job Requirements

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years direct experience in employee relations, labor relations, or labor/employment law with an emphasis on labor and employee relations work.
  • Experience in manufacturing/ distribution/ call center locations.
  • Relevant post-graduation education in human resources, employee relations, Legal (employment)
  • Solid understanding of employment and labor laws of MENA countries (Egypt, Jordan, UAE and KSA)
  • Fluent in English and Arabic
  • Strong interpersonal and persuasion skills, enabling individual to establish partnerships working with senior leaders and across organizational lines
  • Experience in designing and delivering successful training programs
  • Acts with sense of urgency, bias for action, fast pace, and desire to thrive in a dynamically growing environment
  • High-quality judgement and sound decision-making
  • Strong project and time management skills with ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects to closure
  • Technically proficient in Microsoft Office Suite systems including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive background and reference check

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced degree or other specialized training in labor/employee relations a significant plus.
  • Experience working in unionized setting is a significant plus
  • Analytical thinker who enjoys working with data.

  • Confident and innovative thinker; isn’t satisfied with “checking the box” or just pulling out “what we did at my last job”
  • Strong evidence of stretch assignments that are evidence of superior performance in previous roles.
