Job Description

- Coordinates a program to assist and support youth who demonstrate social and/or behavioral issues by :

  • Identifying underlying academic and social issues by conducting individual interviews with students at risk; and following up with students and school personnel;
  • Developing strategies and techniques for students to use to address issues and provide information to school personnel regarding classroom management strategies;
  • Providing learning experiences to enhance self-esteem through positive reinforcement, linking students with others in similar circumstances; opening communication avenues within the schools for students and staff; developing study skills through modeling; counselling one on one or in small groups to determine degree of students’ needs; providing support and advice;
  • Counselling and providing motivational counselling to students;
  • Working closely with Student Services, Student Success Teacher, Learning Support Teacher and School Administration in support of the student;
  • Attending multi-disciplinary meetings;
  • Teaching life skills such as stress management, self-esteem, decision making, and anger management;
  • Liaising with parents on an on-going basis; making presentations to parents and school personnel;
  • Facilitating Life Skills workshops

- Responsible for administrative duties including:

  • Maintaining and updating a tracking system that includes student names, assessment of needs, specific support, service or interventions to provided and expected outcome of service.
  • Protecting and maintaining confidentiality, integrity and privacy of student information;

Job Requirements

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology .
  • Master’s Degree in Child Psychology preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Conflict resolution skills.
  • Organization and time management skills
  • Analytical skills.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft office.
  • Ability to work in culturally diverse environment.
  • Fluent written & spoken English
