Job Description

  • Excellent reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language.
  • Minimum 5 years management experience in a luxury Spa.
  • Consistently exceeds expectations as Spa Director
  • Demonstrates superior knowledge of spa, wellness and holistic modalities
  • Thorough knowledge of 5-star service standards, effective application of spa staffing models,
  • Proven ability to create and implement spa service menus, effective retail management, successful marketing strategies, and demonstrated ability to project costs, revenue and to adhere to the budget that supports monthly / annual financials
  • High peer credibility
  • Previous experience preferred as a hands-on therapist such as massage therapist, esthetician, acupuncturist etc.
  • Manage and oversees The Spa Departments and all they entail.
  • Ensures the training of the Spa staff to exceed standards. Ability to work with Learning Manager and Designated Trainers to achieve the best possible learning environments for spa staff.
  • Works with and supervises professional personnel such as Ayurvedic doctors, Herbalists, Medical Practitioners, etc.
  • The ability to maintain operating criteria/spa concepts and be responsible for the coordination and scheduling of all Spa related services in relation to consistency with policies, philosophy and objectives for the Spa.
  • The ability to interview and select job applicants as well as effectively supervise, discipline, mentor and give performance evaluations for Spa employees.
  • The ability to participate in regular staff meetings to keep employees informed of hotel policies and changes as well as ways to increase sales and service.
  • The ability to communicate with other departments to ensure a supporting team of professionals
  • The ability to communicate on all levels with staff, colleagues and management.
  • The ability to convey clear instructions and guidance to staff and establish working relationships that attain a high level of effective employee morale.
  • The ability to identify potential Spa Directors and Assistants internally and externally and develop tools to refine the selection and succession processes.
  • The ability to develop and enhance programs and policies to ensure employers of choice and retention of high performers and high potential Managers.
  • The ability to mentor and develop the technical and assessment skills of future Spa Directors and enhance service culture.
  • The ability to work closely with Engineering to maintain quality and mechanical operation of all Spa equipment.
  • The ability to oversee the cleanliness of the Spa and coordinate special requirements with Housekeeping, Laundry, and Engineering.
  • The ability to understand and implement emergency response procedures and respond properly in any hotel/ spa emergency to assure staff and guest safety.
  • The ability to effectively integrate Spas with the Hotel operations wherever possible and in accordance to the direction of Spa trends.
  • The ability to utilize all computer systems relevant to the departments.
  • The ability to maintain a log (Lotus Notes) with important information to be passed onto management.
  • The ability to ensure all equipment is kept in perfect working condition and reports any deficiencies to the proper department.
  • The ability to anticipate, in advance, all materials and supplies and assure their availability
  • The ability to be certified in CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and first aide and also assures sufficient number of certified spa staff is on premise at all times.
  • The ability to be cross-trained in all functions of the spa where appropriate.
  • The ability to develop new treatments/concepts to continually keep the Spas at the forefront of the industry.
  • The ability to perform other tasks or projects as assigned by hotel management and staff.
  • The ability to keep General Managers informed about the department, all employees' performance, and guests concerns and comments.
  • The ability to interact with guests, providing full knowledge and assistance for maximum guest usage in a friendly but unobtrusive manner with all guests.
  • The ability to predict trends and implement for the good of the business.
