Job Description

  • Develop and implement policies, procedures and strategies for Logistics activities and ensuring they are in compliance with the local regulation.
  • Pursue Finance department and concerned buyer(s)/ sales for reception of complete set of shipping documents for logistics purposes.
  • Monitor the performance of shipping and clearance companies and work on classifying and approving them in addition to strengthening relations with approved domestic and external shipping and clearance companies. Track daily operations related to own jobs ensuring continuity of work.
  • Developing shipping and distribution plans as per sales orders, incoming shipment and relevant priorities and choosing optimal transportation modes, routing, equipment and frequency.
  • Analyze all aspects of logistics to determine the most cost-effective means of transporting products.
  • Prepare and follow up customs duty documentation requirements, such as permissions and exemptions, as well as obtaining all required approvals from the local authority on time.
  • Ensure compliance with the inbound/outbound order planning process, and guarantee the yearly renewal of all Customs related paperwork and licenses.
  • Follow up of reimbursement of Custom deposits where appropriate.
  • Keep up to date and have full knowledge of all Egyptian laws, whilst maintaining a personal knowledge of all relevant import/export law and procedures; tariffs and duties; licenses and restrictions.
  • Ensure customs Clearance practices and procedures are in line with legal and corporate standards and regulations.
  • Proactively work with governmental and legal bodies with a view to simplify the logistics processes and act as the primary technical advisor to the respective teams in regards to customs technical knowledge issues.
  • Identify all risks and hazards in some documents and provide the means to prevent harmful results.
  • Operate/maintain tracking system for all shipments and filing system for all documents. Provide timely feedback to customers on the progress of logistics activities and inform colleagues of any delays.
  • Regularly visit the local authorities thus following up closely on inbound/outbound process and pinpoint any issues prior encountered.

Job Requirements

  • BA in Commerce or Business Administration.
  • Master’s Degree is a plus
  • A minimum of 10 – 15 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment among which at least 8 years in same position
  • An awareness of logistics management techniques and local & international logistics regulations would be advantageous, such as provided by a Certification/Diploma in Logistics Management.
  • Leadership skills to introduce new processes and ways of working within the organization.
  • Experience in facilitating, coaching, and motivating multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to influence others at all levels of the organization to drive change and achieve results.
  • Good knowledge of spreadsheet software and MS Office suite Word Processing software SAP.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
  • Excellent command of English language.
