Job Description

The position will be closed on the 3rd of November 2019.

Only Senior Media Advisers with previous experience with International Organisations in the field of health are eligible to apply.

The media consultant will support the Social Behavior Communication Change (SBCC) team to prepare and conduct a series of workshops for a group of media staff within the Ministry of Health and Population (MOHP)/FP sector to build their capacity in media communications, including content creation and management. S/he will identify and create a network of key media practitioners in Egypt and engage them to consider FP as a priority in their program plan. S/he will also moderate a meeting(s) between key media practitioners in Egypt and representatives from MOHP/FP sector media unit to engage in discussions related to the overpopulation issue and ways to address it using media communications.

Consultant Tasks and Duties

  • Conduct needs-assessment workshop(s) with the selected MOHP/FP sector media team to identify the gaps and needs,
  • Develop workshop package (curriculum, agenda, etc) and review it with MOHP/FP sector;
  • Conduct capacity building workshop(s) for selected media staff in MOHP/FP sector on media communications, content creation and content management;
  • Identify key media professionals; presenters and writers/editors working in TV or any other media channels with demonstrated impact and wide reach;
  • Plan, organize and moderate meeting(s) between identified key media professionals in Egypt and representatives from MOHP/FP sector media unit, and facilitate the cooperation between stakeholders;
  • Develop means to recognize quality reporting among media professionals promoting dialogue around FP and population issues;
  • Develop processes/mechanisms for media communication under MOHP/FP sector.

Deliverable

  1. Needs-assessment workshop report with feedback and recommendations.- Mid November 2019
  2. Draft workshop package based on the needs-assessment workshop. - End of December 2019
  3. Report for materials review workshop and final materials. - End of January 2020
  4. Report(s) for capacity building workshop(s) of MOHP/FP sector key media team including all developed materials - End of February 2020
  5. Meeting(s) report for engaging key media professionals in Egypt with MOHP/FP sector media staff - Mid-March 2020
  6. Report summarizing outcome of discussions with MOHP along with an identified mechanism for recognizing quality reporting - End of March 2019
  7. Final report with agreed upon plan/process for media communication between MOHP/FP sector media unit and key media professionals in Egypt - End of March 2019

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mass communication, media or related field;
  • 15+ years of experience in working in media or with media professionals;
  • Previous experience in presenting, moderating and reporting on public sessions (reproductive health sessions is a preferable);
  • Have a strong and wide network and connection with media, key influencers and social leaders;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in both Arabic & English language;
  • Ability to develop professional materials in both Arabic & English language;
  • Ability to moderate and facilitate workshops & meetings;
  • Previous experience in working with international organizations is a plus;
  • Previous experience in working with MOHP or FP issues is a plus.
