Job Description
General Duties of the Homeroom Teachers:
- Get to know each student in the homeroom
- Be available and approachable, setting tones of friendship
- Encourage students to feel “important” and to be moral persons
- Develop a sense of community in the Homeroom
- Monitor behavior, advise and encourage observance of School Code
Special Duties of Homeroom Teachers:
1- Record
- Keep accurate records of attendance
- Take notice of each student’s report and Academic Progress
- Write commendations on the report and Academic Progress
2- Report
- Report any student absent for more than two days to the School Primary Lead
- Report any student with a pattern of late arrival or behavior problems
- Refer matters of concern or risk
- Refer to Parents when issues of concern arise
3. Communicate
- Advise students on issues such as organization of work/time management, and how to deal with conflicts
- Give feedback to the Administration or Student Councelor when issues of importance have been discussed
- Dialogue with Counselors, Parents, or with the student’s other teachers when there is concern
4. Develop Community
- Plan team – building activities, assist in inhouse events
- Celebrate successes, birthday and friendship in the classroom
5. Support and Care
- Set a tone of kindness, openness and friendship with the students
- Be available, with set times for sharing one – on – one
Job Requirements
- At least 2 year(s) of relevant teaching experience in International schools.
- You must be a good communicator, having good listening skills , Planning and organisational skills.
