Job Description

  • Maintain skills related to SQL Server Instance and database administration, advanced SQL Server diagnostic and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Manages storage environments for SQL data, logs and backups including optimization, monitoring space and providing growth statistics;
  • Create updated ITIL solutions (diagrams, code, test plans, etc.) in support of incident and problem management.
  • Provides administration and support for mission critical and pre-production/production database environments.
  • Provide capacity planning, monitoring, and maintenance of designated system(s) Identifying trends or problems
  • Ensure system infrastructure and service processes and outputs are error free and complete
  • Develop scripts and create reports for database health monitoring and usage metrics analysis.
  • Drive a total automation philosophy to efficiently and effectively achieve high levels of reliability availability, scalability, security and performance.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT or related Stem fields.
  • 6+ years’ experience in SQL server administration.
  • Excellent experience in MS SQL Server database administration including configuring, implementing and supporting large high availability SQL Server environments.
  • Excellent experience in database performance tuning and using SQL Transactional Replication
  • Experience in routine maintenance, backup, recovery, server fail-over related to the DBMS
  • Understanding of server, database and application security for area of responsibilities
  • Experience leading SQL upgrade/migration projects.
  • Proficient in T-SQL programming language.
  • Experience in additional SQL services and tools such as: SSRS, SSIS and Profile is a MUST.
  • Strong understanding of relational database theory and principles of normalization.
  • Strong knowledge of security access to the database and tracking unauthorized changes.
  • Strong knowledge of security access to the database and tracking unauthorized changes.
  • Strong knowledge of High Availability and Disaster Recovery concepts (i.e. Replication, Cluster)
  • Experience with pro-active monitoring and knowledge of database monitoring tools.
  • Experience administering in a Linux / Windows.
  • Experience with SQL replication, log shipping, mirroring.
  • Experienced in advanced physical database design concepts like database partitioning, de-normalization, buffer pool tuning, and index optimization.
  • Working knowledge of DB2 and Oracle databases is a plus.
