Job description:

• Managing a design team;
• The incumbent shall be responsible for the entire Civil / Structural (including building structure) Engineering Department related design activities covering Building, Superstructure & Foundation design & detailed engineering, preparation of work specification, Cost Estimation, Updating design procedures, Identification of training needs, etc.
• The candidate should possess the requisite organizational ability to build the morale and motivation of his team towards achieving strict time deadlines and perform under pressure. Good experience in resources planning and management with proven track record of leadership and achievement is essential.
• Managing the design process using his/her commercial, contractual, programme/time awareness and technical expertise;
• Supporting, understanding and advising the client as to the requirements and his/her obligations in the development of a building design;
• Encouraging and inspiring design consultants to produce their best work using their full flair, experience, resources and talents in a cost effective way;
• Ensuring the design process recognizes current legislation, standards and codes of practice, where appropriate;
• Ensuring design information is of the right quality and keeps pace with project timescales; and
• Striving to eliminate health and safety risks in the design and financial risks during construction.
• Preparation, review and approve Duct & structural engineering calculations comprising of analysis and design of stiffened plate elements and expansion Joints & duct supporting structures.
• Studying the contractual design requirement, scope of work for structural & duct engineering & reference drawings (if available) and preparing the duct & structural engineering design criteria and work instructions
• Review the 3D model and basic and detail engineering drawings of equipment, structures and foundations and ensure all contractual requirements are met
• Provide technical solutions to duct & structural engineering problems within teams.
• Ensure that key performance indicators like On Time Delivery, Right First Time, Direct Material Productivity are met
• Coordinate with Project Engineer and/or Project Manager and communicate status of Duct & structural engineering deliverables with respect to schedules, upcoming deliverables, challenges and achievements. Method of communications to include, but not limited to design review, team meetings, line of balance meetings etc.
• Follow-up and checking interface data with client, other disciplines, .
• Implement global standards and common processes to assure consistent quality is delivered.
