Job Description
- Drive all the communications and press outreach to manage Careem’s reputation.
- Oversee our communications in SA in terms of communications, press outreach, cascade corporate messages and develop a strong local ground game.
- Develop deep relationships with not only the Managing Director of SA but be close business partners with the General Managers and Marketing teams.
- Deliver against company OKRs and ensure each business partner’s needs are met.
- Deliver communications plans against company OKRs and local team needs
- Strategic planning and cross-functional coordination at Senior level
- Add value by building and protecting Careem’s reputation in terms of communications
- Drive proactive media relations to secure coverage and drive positive impact with press
- Manage, mitigate and handle crisis management and key issues facing the business
- Coordinate government relations needs to ensure its consistent with our business goals and we are sensitive to local government environment and regulatory framework
- Own local fact sheets, messages and content
- Demonstrate strong judgement when it comes to media and crisis situations.
- Supervise agencies and manage their output and hold them accountable against deliverable.
- Manage SA Communications staff and develop their careers and performance.
- Ability to think, plan and execute on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, and to work with colleagues globally.
Job Requirements
- BS/MS level within a subject relevant to the position such as Communication, Media or (equivalent) Business Management with min. of 12 years of experience in Communications field
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Fluent in English and Arabic, French is a plus
- Ability to engage top tier media outlets and secure coverage
- Ability to work to fixed deadlines and under pressure
- Experience in managing external agencies and press and to represent Careem as a company spokesperson
- Experience leading a talented team of communications professionals and providing inspiring leadership.
- Ability to think, plan and execute on multiple projects simultaneously in fast-paced environments, and to work with colleagues globally.
