Job Description

Job Title: Committee Officer
Department: Operations
Reports to: Director of Operations and Communications & Operation

Job purpose

  • Responsible for managing Committees and their Advocacy Agenda

Duties and responsibilities

  • Manage a select number of Committees and ensure the effectiveness of their advocacy efforts.
  • Drive the direction adopted by Committees, in line with current sectoral events and developments, to build a favorable business environment.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including private and public sector representatives, to address the setbacks and challenges Committees and member companies face.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of current economic and business affairs affecting the operations of the various sectors represented in Committees.
  • Support the efforts of Committees by conducting research, drafting position and policy papers, event briefs, and developing questionnaires, among others.
  • Offer Committees support in the planning of events, including developing innovative agendas, invitations, speakers lists; communicating with guest speakers and panelists; and implementing events.
  • Liaise between Committee Leaders, the Director of Operations and the CEO.
  • Record and analyze Committee finances.
  • Represent at external public/private meetings and with external stakeholders.
  • Support operations and events beyond Committees.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • BSc degree or A background in Economics and Political Science
  • 2 + Years of experience in a similar field
  • Excellent communication skills is a must (both written and spoken)
  • Dedication, flexibility and awareness of the organization’s long-term vision.
  • Proactive approach to all aspects of work.
