Job Description

  • The Academic Advising Manager assumes primary responsibility for a medium to a large caseload of participants regarding all academic, university, financial, and dorm-related issues.
  • This includes overseeing the overall academic progress of students and ensuring proper corrective actions take place as needed.
  • In addition, the Academic Advising Manager is responsible for nurturing the relationship with partner universities through frequent coordination, campus visits, and partner meetings.
  • The Academic Advising Manager also supervises other team members to ensure programmatic goals are met as well as provide M&E input for reporting.
  • The Academic Advising Manager also assumes primary responsibility for program-related procurements and agreements.

Job Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in order to apply a working knowledge of the theories and principles in a specialized field or work discipline.
  • Requires at least 8 years of related work experience.
  • Requires a working application of a specialized body of knowledge. At this level of competency, a team member is required to utilize knowledge in work execution and continuous improvement of IIE programs, policies, services and systems.
  • Proven leadership ability with excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, working collaboratively and cooperatively within a team environment.
  • The ability to work under pressure, to meet tight deadlines, and to handle multiple tasks concurrently
  • Strong understanding of diverse participants and the ability to manage cultural and counseling issues.
  • Project management skills preferred.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office, internet software and database software.
  • Must be available to work during evenings and weekends and be able to travel overnight domestically
  • Knowledge in purchasing under USG regulations. USAID and NGO experience is essential.
  • Ability to conduct reports and maintain contracts and files
