Job Description

Project Manager “Care Leavers’ Independence”

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that the project team and relevant stakeholders are identified and are well oriented on the project document and the project’s logical framework analysis (LFA).
  • Ensures that project interventions are coherent and results-oriented (versus activity/output oriented).
  • Ensures that project is on track technically, financially and timeline and that the timeliness and the progress of the project is contributing to the realization of the intended project outcomes and impact.
  • Supervises the overall implementation of the work plan and ensure its timely and effective implementation.
  • Facilitates the process and the development of activities' plan with project team/consultants and different stakeholders.
  • Ensures proper selection process (i.e. develop TORs and job descriptions) of trainers, consultants, staff according to the projects’ needs.
  • Responsible for managing the external consultant; i.e. to develop and implement a comprehensive Monitoring and Evaluation system to supervise project implementation.
  • Develops sustainability and fundraising strategies in coordination with the External Relations Department.
  • Networks with other entities and relevant stakeholder including all necessary government authorities in coordination with the Deputy Executive Director.
  • Handles all communications with Drosos Foundation.
  • Participates in the development of concept papers, project proposals.
  • Performs other duties to ensure smooth project implementation as required and the timely and effective implementation of the work plan.

Financial Tasks:

  • Manages project fund, oversees the preparation of financial reports in English and reviews and signs the final revised financial progress reports including budget revisions and requests for budget reallocation and other project related budgets.
  • Prepares requests for payment orders and follows up with the Finance Manager that payments have been made.
  • Responsible for installment transfer from Drosos Foundation.
  • Keeps track of the budget, and liaise with the Finance Manager .
  • Ensures financial reports are submitted by the Finance Manager.

Job Requirements

  • A Bachelor degree in developmental or social studies.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field is an asset.
  • 10 -15 years’ work experience in development.
  • Previous experience in managing projects and teams.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in relation to monitoring and evaluation.
  • Has previous experience in relation to donor-funded projects; i.e. in a senior position or has managed budgets /grants before.
  • Good knowledge of Rights- based approach and child protection mechanisms.
  • Knowledge of results-based management approach.
  • Fundraising experience.
  • Preferably has knowledge in relation to orphans and juveniles cause.
  • Preferably has knowledge in advocacy and working with local authorities.
  • Fluent in both Arabic and English (ability to write formal correspondences, proposal, etc.. (in both languages).
