Job Description
- Architect, design, develop and debug hardware system designs for current and next generation embedded systems and products, digital signage and IoT platforms
- Design of Printed Circuit Boards PCBs involving complex layout requirements in accordance to global process and manufacturing guidelines, and working with the design team to optimise within tight constraints
- Layout of tightly-integrated power, analog and high speed digital circuits
- Managing component libraries and standardising PCB templates
- Working with schematics which utilize hierarchical designs and sheet re-use
- Perform and document testing on electronic circuit boards using standard laboratory equipment.
- Contribute to the build, modification and repair of small batches of prototype devices for use in design development.
- Maintaining the PCB design tools, database and updates
- Participate in design reviews, independent design checks, approval of deviations and restricted parts prior to data release
- Determine or contribute to the assessment of hardware compatibility and/or influence hardware design, architecture decisions and HW/SW functional split.
- Working with mechanical engineers to review mechanical constraints and PCB outlines
- Engage stakeholders for requirement analysis and solution development
- Analyze requirements and deal with change-requests
- Proficiently design architectures and propose high-quality solution concepts as development basis
- Estimate and track development effort in a reliable accurate manner
- Design for EMC and CE compliance.
- Generate project documentation; requirement specification, test reports.
- Generate product drawings, schematics, BOM’s, assembly drawings.
- Flexible to travel to Europe for short periods
Job Requirements
Naturally you will have experience (ideally at least 3 years) in laying out complex boards mixing power, analog and high speed digital components. You will also be familiar with multi-disciplinary product design processes working to the highest possible standards. You are expected to have:
- At least 3 years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience in multi-layer, BGA escapement, high-speed DDR routing, and advanced technologies such as flex / flexi-rigid; blind vias;buried vias
- Experience managing component databases
- Expert-level user skills with one or more modern PCB CAD tools
- Experience working under formal change control process, managing and controlling changes from request through to implementation
- Design review experience for schematics and layouts
- Experience in design for EMC compliance
- Some experience of hand soldering and rework for rapid prototyping and patch design testing (training can be provided)
- A can-do attitude and good time management approach, with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and manage multiple incoming requests during the working day
- Familiarity with Embedded platform architectures
- Possess creative problem solving skills and excellent troubleshooting/debugging skills.
- Experience in establishing and sustaining excellent relationships with the extended remote team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
