Job Description

Purpose of the job

The Cost Control Manager is responsible for scheduling, costing, and risk assessing projects as well as documenting costs of projects and conducting cost analysis. The Cost Control Section Head also is responsible for monitoring, identifying and analyzing all projects costs with a view of facilitating the completion of the project within budget limits. The Cost Control Section Head should review expenditure information and conduct regular cost reports.

Accountabilities and Duties

  • Assist the Project Managers to complete Projects on time and within the approved budget
  • Create a schedule/cost/Risks assessment of all projects
  • Work with client, project manager, and vendors to prepare technical and project cost documentation
  • Analyse cost & revenue trends and reporting problems or potential problems to Executive Management
  • Set‐up Cost Control System and Project Budget manual based on established Alkan Construction’s Chart of Accounts and Project Expense items
  • Ensure regular and constant communication with operation, procurement and engineering functions during the preparation of the budget of the project as long as the project is in process
  • Monitor the detailed construction progress of the project to ensure full adherence to work plans within agreed budget and resources
  • Notify project managers of any under- or over-run in project costs, recommending courses of action.
  • Assist the project manager in identifying and gaining approval of estimates/change requests
  • Review cast commitments and expenditure information for all cost elements on a consistent basis and ensuring that all the information received is accurate and correctly input
  • Conduct regular cost reports and advise management of any forecast cost overruns to allow corrective actions to be taken in a timely manner
  • Highlight cost areas of concern and suggesting areas of improving
  • Maintaining comprehensive accessible registers of financial approvals, variations, and change orders
  • Liaise with the finance department to establish monthly evaluation of work done, logistics received, and services rendered for invoice preparation and verification
  • Ensure the satisfaction and retention of the cost control team
  • Provide regular performance management for subordinates including (Feedback, Coaching, career development, and disciplinary actions)

Job Requirements

Experience and Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering
  • 10+ Years of experience in in project cost control
  • Strong management skills
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • High computer literacy
  • Good working knowledge of relevant cost software
