Job Description

  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating terms of contracts and other legal documents.
  • Act as a special invitee and to participate in management team meetings of the Business.
  • Conduct legal research, supervising researchers, and summarizing research on procedural matters.
  • Supervising the renewal of corporate licenses and other authorizations.
  • Identifying legal risks, advising clients on measures to mitigate such risks.
  • Assess the strength and weaknesses of cases prior to litigation and assist with the follow-up work related to such cases and implementation of litigation strategies.
  • Conduct litigation directly in Egypt courts, oversee allocated litigation cases if handled externally, ensure court deadlines are met and cases handled in the best interest of the Business and in a timely manner.
  • Advice on and keep abreast of applicable laws in Egypt, particularly with regard to corporate and commercial matters pertaining to the Business as well as international best practice in relation thereto.
  • Responsibility for assisting with keeping any registrations of intellectual property rights updated and identifying potential trademark infringements.
  • Advising clients on legal aspects of their business matter, and attending meetings, as necessary.
  • Advising senior management on company and JV structure or restructuring.
  • Negotiating commercial transactions, including multi-jurisdiction transactions.
  • Negotiating settlements.
  • Prepare a training plan for management and staff of the Business to create awareness of legal risks, processes, challenges as well as compliance obligations.
  • Work with other support services groups to ensure that the Business is aware of, and in compliance with, changes to laws and legislation.
  • Create standard operating policies for the Business that is in line with the policies of the company.
  • Provide support and assistance to all internal support divisions of the Business, including the company.
  • Ensure corporate filings for legal entities within the Business are up to date and in order.
  • Attend periodic review meetings of the Business.
  • Track action matters and submit monthly actions list reports and further information as required to the designated Senior Legal Adviser - Group.

Job Requirements

Qualification

  • Law Degree and rights of audience before Egyptian courts
  • Additional MBA / CFA or industry qualification is optional

  • Minimum 5 years of experience gained in a reputed mid to large size law firm in Egypt
