Job Description
Functional responsibilities:
- Contributes to the follow-up of files/projects of interest to the Protection Department
- Provides logistical, administrative and technical support to the activities as per the needs
- Performs follow-up of individual cases with ICRC colleagues and external interlocutors
- Performs various data processing on the computer
- Contributes to statistics and written reporting
- Carries out basic translations English-Arabic, Arabic-English
- Participates to the drafting/implementation/modification of the procedures/guidelines
- Presents the ICRC principles, mandate and activities to beneficiaries and interlocutors
- Develops and maintains contacts with external interlocutors at various levels
- Provides logistical and administrative support to the activities related to the forensic capacity building programs. Supports in preparing materials for training courses and workshops;
- Ensures the delegation has sufficient forensic material, equipment and publications for the implementation of the forensic programs and activities;
- Provides technical assistance in forensic-related meetings, briefings, training sessions and dissemination activities for staff and relevant external stakeholders and follows up with external participants on their reporting;
- Supports the Forensic Specialist in field visits and assessments related to the implementation of the forensic programmes;
- Supports the Forensic Specialist in providing oral and written reports on forensic issues; prepares mission reports;
- Disseminates ICRC information messages on forensic science and humanitarian action;
- Participates in the Unit’s annual budget drafting and monitors expenses. Updates the timeline, tables and charts, schedule and other tools and ensures invoices are followed up on.
- Focuses on requests related to the missing migrants' file in Europe/Mediterranean
- Liaises with specialized colleagues (eg. with ICRC Paris and Belgrade delegations)
- Liaises with the Egyptian Red Crescent RFL Team
- Provides regular updates to management and colleagues about the caseload/file
- Contributes to the treatment of individual requests/reception of visitors as per the needs
- Conducts interviews with families of missing persons and documents tracing requests as per the applicable criteria
- Is the focal point for the documentation of complementary information (eg. Physical Description Form, Missing Person Form) if considered relevant and in coordination with the Forensic Specialist
- Ensures adequate file management.
- Ensures the management of the Trace the Face (TTF) online tool.
- Contributes to the RFL guidelines update and to any other relevant analysis of the activities.
Job Requirements
Selection Criteria:
- University degree in a relevant field
- 2-3 years of work experience in a similar field
- Very good knowledge of written and spoken English/Arabic
- Excellent computer skills
- Very good analytical skills
- Work experience in managing sensitive and confidential information
