Job Description

Branch Manager Job Purpose:

Responsible for every aspect of the day-to-day supervision of the branch, including sales, staff, stock and resources management. His role is to run the branch successfully. Working on the shop floor and liaise with the head office and ensure that they are in constant contact with their customers and staff. He/she is responsible for ensuring their staff gives great customer service as well as monitoring the financial performance of the store.

Branch Manager Job Duties:

  • Completes store operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
  • Maintains store staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
  • Maintains store staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Achieves financial objectives by preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions
  • Identifies current and future customer requirements by establishing rapport with potential and actual customers and other persons in a position to understand service requirements.
  • Formulates pricing policies by reviewing merchandising activities; determining additional needed sales promotion; authorizing clearance sales; studying trends.
  • Secures merchandise by implementing security systems and measures.
  • Maintains operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing the program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Provide staff with product knowledge
  • Motivate the team to meet or exceed sales goals
  • Deal with complaints from customers to maintain the store’s reputation
  • Plan and oversee in-store promotional events or displays.

Job Requirements

  • Leadership Skills:

You will have to keep your employees motivated, resolve conflicts and make hard decisions for your employees. A successful Branch manager is a good leader.

  • Time Management:

You will be working with employees, customers and management. You might have to create schedules, order supplies and write reports. Time management is essential to make sure everything gets done.

  • Math and Budgeting:

Branch manager is expected to keep and maintain a budget in almost every field. You will need to be confident in using math skills to make sure you know where your company's money is going.

  • Analytical Skills:

You will be in charge of hiring new employees, and being a good judge of character will help ensure that you hire the right people to maintain an efficient and motivated team. You will also need analytical skills to be able to solve problems that may come up during a typical workday.

  • Decision-Making Skills:

Whether it is dealing with employees, customers, management or vendors, you will have to make decisions that affect the company. Having the ability to make hard and fast decisions is crucial to your success.

  • Communication :

Branch manager will do a lot of communicating. This might be one-on-one to a customer, in front of a group of employees, or in a meeting with management. You might be called upon to write reports, recommendations, or reasons for termination. Great verbal communications and writing skills will help you in any of these scenarios.
