Job Description
- Properly and clearly communicates the school’s vision and mission for the instructional program in the designated subject area
- Mentors new and old faculty, giving the support needed in various curriculum/teaching aspects within their respective departments
- Screens and assists in interviewing prospective faculty members
- Collects and reviews weekly lesson plans and ensures that school standards of planning are being followed
- Reviews teachers’ emergency files on a monthly bases and gives feedback
- Conducts department meetings that focus on
- Ensuring teachers’ distinguished performance when presenting their material
- Ensuring teachers’ adherence to the 10-month curriculum
- Making sure that adjustments/documentation required from teachers in updating plans, standards, course descriptions and activities are being followed in a timely manner
- Promoting creativity and giving needed support
- Supporting teachers to best serve and support their students according to their various needs
- Provides a written and professional evaluation form once every semester for all department teachers
- Provides a written and professional evaluation form for subject coordinators and lead teachers once a semester
- Follows up and gives the needed support to department teachers as they implement the action plan based on their first evaluation
- Analyzes the MAP results with administration and faculty in order to address respective teaching and learning accommodations
- Creates a team approach and empowers its members while leading department teachers in their various tasks
