Job Description
- Provides estimates of project costs and duration at all stages of the architect’s methodology of work, from conceptual design to construction documents.
- Contributes to value engineering and constructability reviews.
- Manages the resolution of planning phase risk associated with the clarity, specificity, and completeness of construction documents.
- Assists project management in the transition of each project from its planning phase to construction.
- Works in support of project management during materials procurement to ensure compliance with construction plans and specifications.
- Provides diagnostic monitoring of baseline estimates during project construction.
- Validates planning metrics upon project completion.
- Develops and maintains a central database of trade contractors and material vendors.
- Attends business development meetings, and assists in developing and making presentations.
- Deciding on the most appropriate engineering techniques and sequences of activities for each project stage.
- Drawing plans; using specialised design software packages.
- Ensuring plans meet the client’s specifications.
- Making estimations for timescales and costs.
- Supervising the project at all stages and providing solutions to problems.
- Collaborating with site managers, surveyors, engineers, site worker and other professionals.
- Organising the transportation of materials.
- Ensuring procedures are carried out safely.
- Inspires confidence in decision making, reasoning, and subjective judgment.
- Creates positive working relationships with co-workers, clients, architects, and the trades.
Job Requirements
- The qualified candidate will have the specialized domain knowledge and commitment to excellence expected by the company’s construction managers, project owners, and their architect.
- Manages time effectively. Is organized, detail oriented, and able to multitask.
- Communicates effectively and professionally both verbally and in writing.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project); Google (Calendar, GMail); and Quickbooks with the ability to accomplish necessary tasks on a computer.
