Job Description
- Perform detailed layout design for IRSC’s pipeline of solar energy projects. Evaluate project siting constraints, solar module, inverter, and mounting structure, BOS (balance of System) considerations, and solar resource data to maximize project value.
- Analyze available meteorological datasets and design the using available simulation software.
- Utilize performance modeling software to prepare project energy yield assessments.
- Conduct site visits to support site evaluation, suitability, and due diligence efforts.
- Participate in landowner meetings, community outreach events, and monthly construction meetings
- Manage relationships with various equipment vendors, contractors, and third-party engineering firms and facilitate training opportunities for the project engineering team.
- Interface with solar module, inverter, and racking OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) to obtain technical information and stay apprised of technology advancements, pricing, and market trends
- Spearhead multiple team initiatives to support the continued growth of the project engineering team. Mentor and train junior team members.
- Collaborate with the business development team to support local permitting efforts
- Support the business development and origination teams with the preparation of sales proposals
- Interface with the project management and operations teams leading up to and through project commercial operations. Ensure timely and complete transfer of technical responsibilities.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in an electrical / renewable energy engineering. Master’s degree is a plus.
- Approximately two to five years of experience supporting the engineering, design, and/or construction of renewable energy projects
- Familiarity with solar module, inverter, and mounting technology along with key general solar technology trends. Knowledge of energy storage and distributed generation technologies is a plus.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Microsoft Project experience is a plus
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, prioritization, and time management skills. Ability to multi-task while managing multiple projects and multiple engineering team initiatives.
- Demonstrated interest in renewable energy.
- Familiarity with PVSyst, and AutoCAD. Sketch up experience is a plus
