Job Description

  • The Business Development Manager (BDM) at Nexford University will champion the global business development B2B sales accounts with organizations globally (with a focus on emerging markets) with the aim of expanding revenue streams and reputation enhancement.
  • As BDM, you will be an accomplished leader in generating and delivering leads through effective engagement with businesses and other organizations. The ideal candidate will have an enviable track record in sales and will demonstrate the creativity and autonomy necessary to establish a thriving business development function in a start-up organization.
  • Working to the Chief Partnerships Officer, the role is a high-profile external facing position that has a high level of sales and targets responsibility.
  • You will create annual sales business plan for sales with developed account management skills and the ability to drive cross functional working internally. This person needs to be able to think creatively to craft partnerships that meet organization and partners’ objectives and deliver ambitious sales targets.
  • You will also generate leads via research targeted outreach and effectively present learning and partnership solutions to a diverse set of organizations.
  • You will also lead contract negotiations to close leads toward monthly, quarterly and annual targets, manage pipeline opportunities using Salesforce and report sales metrics to the partnerships team on a weekly basis.
  • The role requires extensive travel internationally, designing and delivering pitches to a variety of clients, as necessary, working from within the partnerships team and cross institutionally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation and delivery of the B2B partnerships strategy by leading on the sales function
  • Managing the full sales cycle, including hitting ambitious sales targets for employer sponsored learners
  • Identify, prospect and grow business partnerships through building value at an account level and secure new business.
  • Represent the Chief Partnerships Officer in key worldwide markets for NXU.
  • Work closely with regional partnership managers to drive local sales initiatives.
  • Generate key strategic employer partnerships for outreach, profile enhancement and recruitment potential
  • Generate creative partnership concepts with a wide range of organization types globally to ultimately drive direct and indirect sales

Job Requirements

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required, advanced degree is preferred
  • 5+ years of prior work experience with business development
  • Experience of international markets, with an emphasis on Asia & Africa
  • Demonstrable track record of sales and growth in current position, ideally in a relevant industry such as SaaS, training, professional services, or private education marketplace
  • Experience using B2B marketing tools and CRMs (such as Salesforce) to facilitate effective employer engagement across the institution
  • Experience in program development, employer relations and relationship management required.
  • Deep commitment to customer service and the ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and work successfully in a fast-paced environment
  • Business acumen and market insight
  • Ability to communicate with large groups as well as one-on-one with senior administration, faculty, and employers
  • Willingness and ability to travel locally and internationally and work some evenings and weekends as required
