Job Description
Basic Function
- The head Teachers are responsible for the effectiveness of the academic program in their subject areas.
- They communicate effectively with subject teachers and the Head of Academics to give teachers proper support and to ensure consistency in the school's academic policies and procedures.
- A Head Teacher carries out the duties of a teacher besides taking the full responsibility for teachers’ and students’ performance and the implementation of the curriculum.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- To provide leadership for the stage.
- To ensure that the teachers follow the guidelines of the curriculum and promote the goals of the curriculum among students and parents.
- To hold regular meetings with the teachers and to meet individual teachers to provide support and advice.
- To update teachers with new teaching methods and strategies.
- To Participate in the recruitment committee and prepare tests for new applicants.
- To Mentor and monitor all teachers and assistants, work closely with them to help them settle in both professionally and personally.
- To liaise with the school principal concerning the professional performance of teachers and to participate in the formal evaluation of members of the Department (ex: appraisal).
- To carry class visits for teachers and carries out the necessary follow up at least once a month.
- To monitor grading of the subject to obtain from each teacher a regular (at each Quarter) work summary, including:

- Material covered
- An estimate of the homework set
- Weekly formative assessments (ex: portfolios, copybooks, quizzes, assignment etc...).
- Summative assessments (e.g. quarter exams, presentation, etc.…)
- Student individualized report
- Further develop own professional and skills by attending relevant courses, reading to keep abreast of current educational thinking and participating fully in school staff development.
- Attend meeting in accordance with school policy and lead such meetings as required.
